A listener writes “it was late September or early October 2020. I do not remember the exact time but it was warm enough for me to have the top off my Jeep but early enough in the fall that the corn fields have yet to be removed.
I was headed home from work about 5:15 a.m. It was just about dawn, you know that weird purplish blue light right before the sun comes up? It’s that kind of light that almost reminds you of a black and white movie where everything is a different shade of the same color. I was on a pretty well traveled paved road but at this time there were only 2 cars on, myself in the lead and a co-worker 2 to 3 car lengths behind me that lived in the same town as I do. I was so grateful to have this individual following me as not only would I have a witness to what I was about to see but also the headlights from 2 different cars to light the scene. In my opinion the extra set of headlights gave me a better view for a bit of a longer time. About 1/2 to 3/4s the way home there is a pretty substantial S curve. The curve starts to the left then winds to the right before banking back to a straight away.
The speed limit around that curve is 45 so it tends to slow you down a bit. At the beginning of the curve r there is a farm house on the right (passenger side), once you past the house it is immediately followed by a vast wooded area. By the time you get to the end of the curve the wooded area butts up against several acres of cornfield. On the drivers side of the curve it is cornfield along with open field. The curve is about a 1/4 mile long from start to finish with blind areas on either embankment. I had driven this road many times and knew the curve was coming up so I slowed down to take the curve. As I approached the end of the curve there was a figure that caught my attention on the passenger side of my Jeep just at the end where the woods meets the cornfield. Knowing that deer are jerks in this area and love to jump across the road I slammed on my brakes to almost a crawl! As I drew closer to the figure I quickly realized it was not a deer. Upon that first glance it appeared to be a HUGE dog that was hunched over like a linebacker waiting to break the line of scrimmage, almost like it was going to dart across the road. When you see something that your brain has to quickly recognize it almost starts to play tricks on you!! What the hell did I just see? Where we live there are no wolves or bear! Our game generally consist of deer and some scarce coyote, we don’t really have any other big game up here. We do have the typical livestock But… Not to mention around here livestock tend to look like livestock, deer tend to look like deer and dogs tend to look like dogs! This was no dog!
My mind was trying to make sense of what it was exactly that I was seeing. My brain started to explain to myself what I was seeing! My best guess in that moment was a coyote was feeding on a deer that had possibly been hit by a car. Now I saw no white belly tail or antlers that a deer would possess and I know coyotes don’t get that big. At that moment I told myself that perhaps it was standing on the deer hunched over feeding on it. Upon further thought I was almost positive I was looking at a werewolf, more animal than man. I fairly certain that we don’t have werewolf in Ohio but that’s what this is about isn’t it? The Unknown! This figure was a HUGE dog like creature that was standing on it’s hind legs. The legs were muscular and in a squatting position. It was hunched over almost on all fours with a front paw slightly up off the ground. It had long pile disheveled fur, the color was hard to tell due to the time of day and the lighting but it was definitely darker.
It was about the size of a large buck and was facing the passenger window of my Jeep at a perspective where I was looking straight down its snout. The creature had a face like a German Shepard, long snout with almost a lamb chop and neck sort of beard. The ears almost looked pinned back or turned back on themselves. Almost like a dog that is walking in the wind and rotates them down and back. The creature had a bit of a snarl but it didn’t have evil in its eyes nor was it showing teeth. Also due to the angle I did not see the back of the creature and can’t comment wether or not it had a tail. Like I said it was just a HUGE body hunched over and it was facing the road. The encounter couldn’t have lasted more than a couple seconds, 10-15 tops. Since there was someone behind me I could not come to a complete stop. So I sped up and headed home. The next day I headed into work I was excited the hear the encounter from the perspective of my co-worker that was behind me. We first joked about seeing a werewolf and then explained to each other exactly what we had seen. His encounter was eerily close to mine solidifying what I had seen! It appeared that we had both seen the same thing.”

Ohio is rife with critters isn’t it! There are sightings of both dogman and bigfoot all over the state. Thank you for sharing!
Darrel R
“There are sightings of both dogman and bigfoot all over the state” you may be correct there Esther about OHIO, But here in Oregon before I was married I actually think, I dated a few!

I too would love to know the area. I’m from NE OH. There have been sightings nearby.
Charles R
Here is one from NE Ohio in an area one might not suspect but wooded enough that it happens. I hope if the listener comes on he gives the general area of Ohio.

I live about 25 miles from CVNP. I hear whoops out by me. Two times with my husband. The first time, i said, “did you hear that? ” He said, Yeah, what was that? I said, “Sasquatch” the second time i asked him again, Did you hear that?” He again asked what it was. I just rolled my eyes. He’s in denial.
Dogman ups the ante. Not sure I’ll be in the woods alone this spring. Its almost ramp season…

Not too familiar with Geauga County. But have heard of LaDue Reservoir. That could be an active area.

Speaking of Ohio, does anyone know if Clifford B is OK? He used to be a frequent participant but has been absent lately.

not saying it wasn’t but Ohio and Pennsylvania have some very big wolves. we just had two wolf /coyote mix animals killed in the area. Very large animals..
Cali H
We had a local wolf pack in Wisconsin, Lincoln County Park Pack. I saw them often, so I am familiar. Sometimes I would see a wolf trotting across my hayfield or a few crossing the road. But once I got back home to Ohio, I thought it unlikely that I would see a wolf around here. I saw a big canine on my way to work a few years back. Not a dogman, but my first thought was why is there a wolf here. If it was a coyote it was biggest coyote ever. Drive by’s are so hard because you dont get a good look. Could have been someone’s pet wolf dog. It was in someone’s front yard, disappeared into the bushes.
