“I have recently found your podcast and listen to it on my MP3 player driving to and from work each day. I do not wish to be on the show or have my name ever mentioned but I have an interesting experience I would like to tell you about. I live in the smallish town of Smithville, TN. We are located in DeKalb county right on the Center Hill Lake. It is around this lake that my wife and I had this experience.
My wife and I had a day in which my son was with some of his friends and we had what we called “our time”. Just a day to be together and do whatever we wanted without having kids around. We decided that since it was summertime we would take our pontoon boat out to the lake and just motor around. Sligo boat dock (located on Highway 70) is not too far from our home so we put the boat in there. Anyway, we rode around the water for a while and decided we would anchor down in what we call a slough and cook out on our portable grill. Where we dropped anchor was in a slough that was just up the lake from the Ragland Bottoms Recreational Area swimming hole. (All of these locations are very easy to see if you are interested on Google maps). We were in the middle of the slough about 250 feet from either shore on the sides. Anyway, we were cooking hamburgers on the grill and talking. Neither of us drink so no alcohol was involved in this incident.
While we were talking we started hearing something moving around in the trees. The banks of this lake where we were anchored go up at a fairly steep angle and are heavily treed. You can not see up past the first few trees off the water. I just figured it was a deer or something and wasn’t really paying that much attention to it. I do not hunt but the noise seemed louder than a deer would make moving around to me. The burgers finished cooking and we started to eat. Whatever was in the woods would move around for a minute and then stop. Move around some more and change location and then stop. I did not feel threatened or scared or anything. My wife and I continued to talk and eat and the sounds started to come from a little higher up the steep side of the tree covered hill. When the sounds got up to about halfway to the top they stopped again.
That’s when things became strange. There was a loud grunt sound. It sounded like a weightlifter when they do a quick heavy lift. Suddenly this twenty foot or so tree trunk came flying out of the tops of the standing timber on the side of the hill. This tree trunk flew through the air and splashed into the water about ten feet from our boat.
My wife and I were just amazed at this at first. Logic steps in a few seconds later. 1) This tree section was not rotten so it did not fall down 2) If this tree section had fallen down it would have landed on the ground and maybe rolled until it came to a rest against another tree 3) Gravity would have kept the tree section on the ground 4) This came flying out of the tops of the timber, halfway up the hillside, and it landed so close to our boat 5) We both heard the moving around and we both heard the loud grunt. I don’t know what caused this.
I did not see anything. After the tree hit the water we pulled up anchor and headed out of there quickly. My wife will not say much about this even to me so it spooked her. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know there are probably other explanations for this occurrence but it was so strange looking in the direction of such a sound and to see with my own eyes this tree come flying out of the other treetops and the splash as it hit the water. If it was a sasquatch and if it wanted us out of there it got its wish.
After this occurrence I check around on the internet for bigfoot sightings in this area. I came across the bfro website and the closest mention of a bigfoot was from a couple of kids one county over some years ago.”

If they were 250 feet from the shore, then this 20 foot tree branch was thrown at least that far, accounting for it being thrown from up the hillside.
Add to that the realization that it was not a dead branch, AND that it landed about 10 feet from their boat.
SCARY.
This is one that gets more alarming the more I think about it.

3 years ago my wife and I moved at Centerhill lake about a mile away at fishlips.
About our second day my wife was sitting on the back porch , when something stirred in the trees behind her. A heavy smell heavy movement and extremely heavy footstep. My wife said she just stared into the trees. The shaking of the trees was at the 8 foot level. Then ran heavily off. It never came back. Wasn’t afraid but felt it was the squash that had been reported at the lake and protects us now.
