“That was a damn monkey…”

A listener writes “I had an encounter when I was twelve years old. I’m thirty four now. I live in Georgia. I have been a member now over a year. I have been debating to email you for over six months now.

I recently had a new incident about three months ago and has clarified a reason to email you. When I was twelve years old my step father and I were coming home from my uncles house about 9:30-10:00pm. It was a very lit up night from the moon.

My father was probably going about 40 Mph and I was looking out the window. We came to a spot in the road where we both saw something standing on the side of the road. My father said that was a damn monkey. I remember seeing it’s face looking at the car. It’s eyes were black and had long matted hair. It was about level with the Ford Explorer window. I remember saying Andy that was a monkey? Back to him. He hit the brakes and backed up. We rolled down windows but nothing was there. We herd a sound like a limb crashing on driver side of woods. I was looking out passenger side window looking behind the car. Soon right after crash I saw one then another one, almost in line with each other sprint behind the car about four feet tall. They were very silent like almost running with socks on the road but as fast as a deer.

I yelled they are crossing the road! Then you could hear them shoot into the bushes. My step father said I heard it go in bush. You saw it? I said it was two of them. Anyways Wes I could tell you more about it on phone and more detail…”

For the skeptics keeping count, that makes 4,374 escaped monkeys from the local zoos that have been spotted running around the woods in the U.S., they just dont make good locks like they used too.

Thanks for sharing your encounter. I would love to hear it in a little more detail. I think it would be incredible to see the juveniles. I don’t think that happens too often. Seems like they guard their young ones well.
