A listener writes “20 years ago I was at Lake Norris, OH on a Summer family vacation. My uncle rented a house boat for his family and my siblings. All together there were about 10 of us. We were having an uneventful vacation and we’re taking the houseboat all around the Lake. The lake is huge, with many fjords jutting inland so it isn’t hard to find a secluded spot to spend time.

So we find a nice private section of the Lake to set up residence and fish/swim and we’re having a great time. All of the sudden the peaceful experience was shattered when my cousin (approx 25 years old at the time, military vet and state highway patrolman) comes running out of the woods with his wife and they were both out of breath and looked very shaken. His wife was hysterical and crying.

Once they caught their breath, they explained what happened. Earlier they had decided to go for a hike and they hiked up the steep hillsides surrounding the lakeshore. After some time, they came upon a disturbance in a little wooded area that looked as if something large had been bedding down. They figured it may have been a bear and continued up the hillside until they reached a plateau that was filled with tall grass approx 4-5 feet tall.

When they reached the plateau they noticed movement across the field of grass and that’s when they saw it. They said they saw a figure emerge from the grass which they explained was several feet taller than the top of the grass. This figure was bipedal, covered in brown hair and massive. The creature they think was watching them and as they entered the grass it decided to flee. It moved away from them and climbed an embankment with incredible speed and ease and disappeared into the woods.

That’s when my cousin’s wife fled back the way she came with my cousin close behind her. However, as they made their way down the hill the noticed whatever they saw had begun tailing them and that’s when my cousin’s wife panics and starts an all out run down the hill with my cousin yelling at her to stop. He had no choice but to retreat with her while the creature stayed in pursuit.
