A listener writes “My family and I were thrown into the Bigfoot world back in the Summer of 2002-2003. My family has 20 acres of combined vacation property in Michigan.
18 of which belongs to my extended family and has a cabin with some out-buildings and my parents have 2 adjacent acres that we used to keep an old mobile home on (we even lived there for a season when I was little).
After that started delapitating due to the harsh winters, we would setup our pop-up camper on the small plot. Since the events that started unfolding that summer, we have never set the camper on the property again-instead we opt to keep it on my aunts property, a short walk from the cabin. After a nearly 15 year hiatus in activity, it has all recently started ramping up again.
The first incidents happened when we used to live at the property-at night my Dad used to hear mumbling in the woods behind our camper like two people speaking soft gibberish to each other. What we used to think was some quirky haunt and spooky story we have come to realize was “samurai chatter”.
The 2002/2003 summer when it all came to a head started with a noxious odor that would hit your nostrils somewhere between wet dog and hot garbage. This completely dumbfounded us ever time it would waft in and then, leaving us almost gagging and, after a very short while, disappear. Black birds or crows used to follow the smell squawking like crazy above the tree tops.
Then we got a sapling tree placed across our driveway. The trunk looked like it was impossibly twisted until it broke.
The smell and squawking continued that summer until one day when the smell got very strong and the birds got very close. We were sitting on the north side of our camper and I heard something walking through the leaves of the underbrush behind the pop-up. I stood up and quickly walked over to the edge of the camper, looking up the thickly covered hill behind our property line. That’s when I saw two of them about 50-60 yards away doing something that confused the hell out of me-spider crawling. They moved from east to west and left me completely frozen. My dad was sitting not 15 feet away from me, but I couldn’t even think enough to say anything to him. I just stood there-occasionally looking over at my dad while they crawled by. This was just before I got prescription glasses-so they weren’t 100% clear. But I remember the shape, the conical heads that seemed to stick almost straight up off the front of body. The creepy arm/leg movement, and the large red/orange eyes that must have caught some sunlight as they stared at me.
From that moment on I have been hooked on the subject. By that winter, we purchased our first infrared camera (rigged up with an extension RCA cord to a portable DVD player), a sound-blaster with various Sasquatch recordings (and some predator attraction sounds), and a trail camera that took film. While I’m not sure if my parents completely believed what I saw up until that cold weekend in the camper, they certainly did after I finally convinced my dad to let me play that famous long-drawn out howl that all the documentaries looped (Ohio Howl?). Not a second after it played, we got an almost perfectly mimicked response at about double the volume our blaster was capable of. My parents freaked out, unplugged the camera, turned off the lights, and that was that.
Since then, my mom has been growled at, we have seen tree breaks, etc. sporadically over the years. It all stopped when we started getting a cougar (another sort of ‘criptid’ in these parts of Michigan)coming around to our property-which we have seen, found tracks (both adult and cubs) and have audio recorded on multiple occasions.
Recently though, my family has been having some and more unexplained activity starting back up at the property. A year or so ago, we recorded the attached clip (and we should have more/better quality somewhere-just have to find it). Sounded like two demons fighting in the woods for over an hour. We have heard drawn out and deep owl-like hoots in the middle of the night that didn’t match any known owl sounds (we are used to the bared owls that do the crazy cackling). Found more tree breaks.
I’m currently living on West Texas. But very recently, my parents have heard loud wood-knocking in the middle of the night. A weekend or so ago, they also heard something very large walking through the brush on two feet that didn’t stop barreling towards them when my dad shined it. And only turned away when my dad started yelling into the woods.
I saw a documentary where a girl from Michigan also claimed to see a spider-crawling Sasquatch cross the road in front of her and she drew a picture that they included that matched a sketch I made exactly. That was the first time I heard of them doing that. And after listening to your show for awhile now, I’m shocked to hear how common it is. That detail had always made me question the validity of my sighting.
A year or so ago we also came upon a new-ish BFRO report from 2011 of a sighting that had to have happened either on the road at our property or within a very, very short distance. Seems like they never really left… I’ll include the link:
I have also attached a trail cam recording from the night of the demons. My parents think it could be cougars, but I’m not so sure. It just didn’t sound right. I’ll continue to bug my dad to find the higher quality audio recording he has of that night. We do have sand hill cranes that nest up in the swamps near us, and I hear they can make crazy sounds, but this seemed so, so loud and terrifying. It shook your chest with the power of it. I don’t know if they could have been the culprits. Either way, it’s really creepy-so give it a listen and, if you want more, I’ll shoot you some when I find it.
I’d love to talk more about my family’s ongoing adventures (too much to write about), your experiences in Texas, etc.
Thanks,”
Trent M
I’d like to hear about your family’s “ongoing adventures” too. That spider crawling really creeps me out and the speed that they drop to the ground and then move is what I believe to be responsible for many of the stories of them “disappearing” or “shifting dimensions”. Thanks for sharing!

I totally agree with you 100% brother,
Gumshoguy
Anybody have any idea what county this individual is speaking of?

I’d love to hear more too!

Michigan is so squatchy! My dad has hunted there for decades but since he has never seen or heard one they must not exist. Many hunters says that…until they have an encounter. He is in Allegan county and I heard a wood knock there last year.
Gumshoguy
Hi NW Mike, just so you know Allegan County has 8 BF reports and counties all around it have a good number more.

Wes, I think you forgot to post the demon audio clip for us ?, hoping you are saving it for a future show????
All seriousness, great encounter!

I was in the UP Michigan last week .Let me tell you those woods are dark and deep. The mountains are filled with abandoned Copper mines. The roads are few. Big country .Very few people. Its amazing and Squatchy .
