Roland Gebert has lived and hunted the Texas Sam Houston National Forest for over 40 years. He knows the forest like the back of his hand and has had a possible sighting of something large and dark walking through the woods in the distance.

I had known of this sighting for years.
The area this happened was probably a mile or less from where my encounter happened in 2012. The area he described now has thick, tall palmettos in a dark, overgrown swampy- type area…..tis spooky and I often think that’s a perfect place for them but my legs just don’t want to walk in that direction ?

It blows my mind that there are so many encounters there. I went to college there in the early 90’s and we camped, and hiked there many times. I went alone A LOT. It was just a quiet, peaceful place. Never worried about anything but the alligators.
