A listener writes “Hey Wes. I messaged several years ago about an experience I had around the fall of 2000. Leading a group of boys on a nighttime hike on a camping trip at Florida Caverns State Park in Marianna. We all heard footsteps keeping pace with us, when we stopped it would take another step and stop then when we started walking it would start back walking.
Shone our flashlights but never saw anything.
But what’s making me write today is another experience that I had probably a decade later that I just chalked up to paranormal (kind of runs in family) but now I’m questioning that. Friends of mine and I had gone to graveyards at night, trying to record stuff. Over the year or two that we were doing that kind of stuff we had gotten some stuff we couldn’t explain.
Anyway, this was after we stopped all that stuff, I went to visit a graveyard that a friend was buried in to see if he finally had a gravestone. Yes, I did it at night, but it’s out in the country church has an outside light close by. When I got there no problems, walked to his grave and was there 3 or 4 minutes and then just had a fear come over me that I can’t explain. Felt like I needed to get to my truck immediately. I started walking back to truck and it felt like something was gaining on me.
I looked back but didn’t see anything. I was ready to start blasting (always packed going out like that). The feeling didn’t go away until I pulled out of the driveway.
Always thought paranormal but then on one of your podcasts I heard someone mention feeling something similar during an encounter. Now I question that. Anyway, that’s all. I have encountered strangeness like a full body apparition, footsteps, the spirit of death a couple times, and music that seems to have no origin, as well as picture and audio of paranormal stuff. But I’m not into seeking paranormal stuff anymore but it’s still life experiences that have heightened my senses for the rest of my life, made me pay attention more to things.”
