Strange things have been ongoing on my property

A listener writes “Over the past couple years I’ve endured some very strange experiences while hunting in the Ozark Mountains in southern MO. Over the past 3 years, I’ve had 4 experiences in the woods that have confused the heck out of me, 2 of them being quite terrifying.

I’ve found tree breaks, seen orbs and/or apparitions, found turkeys stuck in a trance (as if hypnotized) on tree limbs right above me, rocks thrown at me, heard 20+ second howls, and had our cabin hit by something so hard that it moved the building while we were sleeping, scared my kid and wife incredibly.

I have access to about 1,900 acres of private land in the Ozark Mountains, it’s extremely remote with lots of deep timber and boulder fields/rock formations.

I’m pretty much the only person that goes on the largest parcel, about 820 acres, and I’m afraid to be out there in the dark since my scariest incident in spring 2024. It’s an extremely remote property off the grid, also has remnants of civil war battle (structures, artillery rock walls) so not sure if what I’m experiencing is ghosts or something else.

I’m a deeply passionate outdoorsman, previously a park ranger and I live to hunt turkey, deer, geese and fish rivers. I work in the corporate world now, can’t really discuss these things with friends/family, colleagues as they think I’m crazy from the very few I’ve told.

Looking to discuss and pick your brain to help understand what I’m experiencing on this property.”

David Paulides talks about boulder fields.
Strange occurrences seem to happen around them.
‘Civil war battle-structures, artillery rock walls’
I would say, yes, the paranormal would be active there.
All the vast isolation on the property is
the perfect location for high strangeness.
I’m looking forward to this interview:)

What part of southern Missouri? I am from MO and lived in the south western part as a child. I definitely experienced things that were supernatural. Lived in the country on a farm surrounded by countryside full of farms and wilderness.

My Father, and his family, and ancestors going back to the early Daniel Boone days of Missouri settled in SW, MO, Douglas County. We even have a creek and conservation area named after us in the Mark Twain National Forest. My Father and several uncles moved up to Michigan, because of the depression just before and after WW2. I have been down there a few times, still have cousins there. Truly a beautiful part of this country. Never heard my Father or Uncles speak of high strangeness, but a great Aunt who baby sat us a couple of times, would mention to come when the street lights came on, ore the Booger Man will get you.

I see a few posts from SW MO and even one from Douglas County
. That’s my County. And, did you know that Douglas County is nicknamed “Booger County”? Ues, it really is!!! I’d love to get acquainted with any other booger fanciers in my area!

Hi Janice B. I found out about Booger County back in about 1995 when I lived in Palm Springs, CA. I ran into this gentleman who had a Missouri license plate on his vehicle. We started talking and with the accent he had I stated I bet you are from Springfield, Mo. And he replied he was. When I told him about my roots being from Douglas County, he said ” Oh Booger County.” At that time I did not know what it meant. But I guess my great Aunt Molly being from there did know. I last visited in early January of 2016 when my last remaining Aunt, my Farthers sister passed away in Ava, MO. Her and I would send letters to each other at Christmas time. About 15 miles SE of Ava on highway 14 is Rippee Creek (Runs into the bigger Bryant Creek) and Rippee Conservation area. Me a sister and cousin visited this that same time. I would say that you live in a beautiful area.
