TAAPS writes “The following audio clips were recorded during a month long expedition in Sam Houston National Forest on January 11 2020. Both recording are from same exact location within the forest. The vocals had an exciting playful variance to them from whistles to up——— than down———than back up. These are very interesting and amazing at the same time.”

My question is, if you can get that, why not leave the tape rolling all night?
Sounds like a bunch of jungle sounds. And yes, I have heard that kind of stuff. Now, does that sound like coyotes to you? That’s what my dad used to tell me when I’d hear it at night coming from the Pine Island Bayou / Village Creek waterways.
Good stuff. Thank you Wes.

why is the decay so long? It sounds like they’re in a cathedral, is the speed slowed down and the pitch corrected to original? Sounds more cave than forest in my non-expert opinion.

They’re just that powerful and loud it echoes through the forest.

Fabulous. It sounds like there’s a ‘yoo-hoo’ sound in those vocals which is a little creepy that they were probably doing that at the researchers, lol.
The vocals I’ve gotten in SHNF seem to have a sonar type sound (that’s how I describe it). These definitely have that sound.
The whistles were amazing to get on audio. In a spot I travel on the lone star trail, you would swear a large bird was ‘wolf whistling’ at you. It happens often after we park and travel the first stretch of the trail. Very neat.
Ty for sharing.
I always feel like I know the voice when it’s a Texan. ?
