A listener writes “I have been listening to your podcast about bigfoot and heard you talking about the reports of orbs of light in the forest. This is not what I saw but it was unexplained lights in the forest.

On five different occasions over 6 years between 2006 to 2012 we have seen bright flashes of lights in the woods surrounding our remote Northern Wisconsin cabin. The cabin is outside of Dairyland, Wisconsin one mile from the Minnesota border. These lights have been witnessed by myself, my ex-husband, our two teenage children, my mother and her foreign exchange student and a family friend who hunted there. The light we saw looked like a big ball of white light that explodes outwards: like the white light a flashbulb only a million times brighter. The light would appear at ground level and light up the entire surrounding forest for a few seconds. The first time we saw it was in the fall of 2006 when it would flash intermittently in different directions in the forest. Sometimes close (about 10 feet from the cabin) then way off so we only saw the flash reflected up in the sky. This went on for a couple of hours. The second time was about 10 pm on a wa summer night. A single flash right on the edge of the yard about 10 feet from my husband and daughter who were standing out on the deck. They heard no sound before or after the flash and they came running into the cabin saying, “what was that?” The third time was in the summer and my husband and I saw the flashes coming from a field behind the cabin about 500 yards away. The started about midnight and continued for the next hour.

The flashes went off in 2-5 minute intervals in the same spot. It lit up the entire surrounding forest and started at the ground level and out. The next time was the beginning of January with 2 feet of snow on the ground. Flashes in the woods that moved deeper into the forest with each flash. This cabin is on 80 acres surrounded by thousands of miles of public forest land. It is the only cabin down a dead-end road with the nearest neighbor over a mile away. There is no electricity to the cabin so it could not be a transformer blowing. It was not lighting as there were no clouds in the sky and it was at gound level. It was not swamp gas. I do not want to think it is alien but I have not been able to figure out a logical explination. Freaked us out! We asked all the other hunters who hunt the land if they ever put out trail cameras? No one had. So then he described what we’ve seen and asked if any one else had ever seen it? One other guy said he did see a bright flash one night. He was driving up the dirt road and was almost to the cabin when there was a bright flash right at the end of the driveway. He did not know what it was nor see any thing that could have caused it. He was as baffled by it as we were. The cabin was a hunting cabin owned by my husband’s late father.

My husband and I divorced 5 years ago but shortly after we split up he went to the cabin with his mother. She had previously scoffed at our reports of these strange lights. Apparently that night she was there she woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom when she walked into the main room of the cabin she saw something very big with big red glowing eyes looking in the big picture window. All the lights were off at the time so the eyes were not glowing from a light reflecting off them. She was so freaked out she begged my ex to take her home right then even though it was 2 am. I had the chance to question her about this sighting shortly thereafter. Mind you, the window is 5 feet off the ground so to whatever the thing was was at least 6ft or more. I asked her if she thought it could have been a bear? And she responded, “That was no bear!” I do not know what was going on at that cabin but it was a very creepy place at night! I have been interested in bigfoot since we heard something making deep “whooping” sounds while camping in the Nicolette National Forest in Northeastern Wisconsin at the Chipmunk Falls campground near Florence, Wisconsin in 2009.
