The Clackamas River is notorious for sightings. A listener writes “I live in Clackamas county Oregon and have been up the Clackamas River many many times in my life. So my ex boyfriends friend had went up to skookum lake and was telling us about it. So we decided to go scope it out for ourselves.
We took my son who was around 10 at the time. We were in the raft in this little pond, really. And all the sudden the trees were shaking and in a way that you could tell something was making it’s way around the pond. It scared me and I said we’re staying right out here in the middle till whatever it was stops. We got out of the pond and the raft and then you could smell something terrible. We got the hell out of there.
Then a few weeks later me and my girlfriend were on the lower part of the Clackamas below Barton park. We were on this island, which was a good size. We split up and each one took a side. A few minutes in, I think, and all the sudden I smelled something so strong and bad and heard something in the bushes, I started yelling for my friend and went and found her, we left right away.”
