A listener writes “I worked as a program staff member as a counselor at a summer camp in Washington. I was there with my friend and recall an evening where she and I went to make some Bigfoot calls off of a cliff about a mile or so from camp itself off in the woods. To be honest we did so as a joke.
We spent probably 1 hour before sunset calling and when it became dark I just recall the woods getting dead silent all around us. We got really unnerved and decided to walk back to camp. On our way back as we were leaving we heard a huge grunt. Like massive. It didn’t sound like a bear, it sounded like a gorilla. The thing I remember most about it was I felt it in my chest. We tried to calmly walk out of there and not run. I remember my friend grabbing my arm and she’s not one to scare easily at all.
We made it back and my friend has since (years later) spent much more time in the outdoors/woods than I have. I texted her in preparation of writing this email. She’s one that can tell you a bird call and most animal sounds off the top of her head now. She told me she’s never heard anything like what we heard that night since.
The other odd experience that would happen at this camp would be the lights. Something I never pieced together until listening to your show. It was wild to me to hear this phenomenon. I have no clue what the lights are or how they are related but I’ve chased after one thinking it was a lost camper with some kind of light only for it to up and inexplicably vanish.”
