Strange Happenings

A listener writes “On September 30th, 2020 I was camping at Pleasant Valley Campground in Bishop, California. I went to bed at around 0100 hours after a night of some wobbly pops and whiskey. I fell asleep fast and slept soundly throughout the night until about 0400 or so when I had to go to the bathroom. I opened my eyes and saw that my tent had been covered in branches. I have a Kelty one man and did not have the rain fly on, so a large portion was that see through mesh stuff.

I did not know the extent of the coverage of my tent only that there was a small portion that was not covered on the back side of my tent. I had a feeling that whatever covered my tent might still be out there and I did not make a peep. I waited for daybreak which was found 0615 or so and I yelled for my buddy, who was in another tent about 15 yards away, to come get me out, as I was trapped in my tent.

My buddy Jim came over and removed some of the brush off of my tent. It was then I realized that all of our camping equipment was stacked neatly outside of my tent. I looked around camp and saw several foot prints. The footprints were of bare feet and a couple of them had a pattern to it that was most unusual. The pattern was a series of vertices lines running from the heel to the toe. There were at least two different kinds of foot prints. One looked like it had a hooked big toe, a smaller foot with the lines in it and another print that looked mostly normal.

This was the strangest thing ever and I can’t explain it. It seems super weird and my buddy’s tent was left alone. Here is a link to my youtube video.”

WOW! I’ve camped there many times since the early 80’s and never had a clue that our hairy friends might be there, makes sense though, lots of good fishing there, deer and elk and the creek runs right along the campground. Might have to make another trip there, wondering what time of years they had this happen to them.

It seems as if the mesh tent was covered and I wonder if it was a way of giving him ‘more shelter’? I don’t believe they are always friendly neighbors but it’s interesting to say the least.

The “ridges” look like the digital prints we have on our fingers, but the ones in his photos look like from top to bottom. It looks like they were trying to give him more shelter.

I wonder if he has a problem with snoring loudly? Could be that the local ‘forest dwellers’ were trying their best to muffle the sound by covering his tent with foliage and placing his camping equipment stacked up around him like a sound block. Just a thought … ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ????
