A listener writes “I am a South Carolina native from the lowcountry (Coastal SC). According to the BFRO there are few documented cases of encounters in the coastal area, but I have had two or three situations that make me suspect that there is more going on here than people admit.
I am a fairly avid hunter and have had one experience of a series of “screams” nearby while deer hunting in Georgetown, SC. The screams convinced me to leave my stand at dusk (Note that I am 6’4″, 245 and had a 7mm deer rifle and a .45 on my hip and felt is best to “Go”).
I had another experience while Turkey hunting in Cades, SC. I heard wood knocks while calling to And stalking a Turkey one evening last spring. I have also seen a “structure” in a local swamp off of the Black River in Georgetown, SC. The structure was a teepee type structure of large trees, all forming a shelter like structure near the area where I heard the screams while Deer hunting.
I also have a friend whose family owns hunting property in Ridgeville SC that backs up onto Hell Hole Swamp. One night they heard what sounded like a woman screaming near some train tracks…in an area that was miles from anywhere and no other people were around. They attributed the screams to a Bobcat…but then later found large footprint tracks around their property.
I am curious to know if you have many reports from the Lowcountry of SC. We have MUCH undeveloped area and I am curious to know if you have had many stories from people in my area of the country who may be reluctant to make BFRO reports.”

I’m in upstate SC. I’ve had several weird experiences in the woods. Whoops and screams in Laurens and Union counties. I heard a wood knock right before Christmas on national forest land in Laurens county. My son actually saw something on our old hunting club near Clinton. It paced him out if the woods but he couldn’t quite tell exactly what it was

I’m in the Lowcountry S. C. as well between Allendale and Hampton County. My wife had something large and hairy jump the road while jogging at 5:00a.m.

It certainly would be good to hear more encounters from the coastal areas of SC and NC, VA, and GA for that matter. I think the BFRO only groomed researchers for the mountain and inland forests and has some catching up to do. It was just a little over 2 years ago that 3 year old Casey Hathaway from the coastal area of NC disappeared for over 2 days and nights during some brutal cold nights in only a jacket. Then found in very good health in a thicket saying he was protected by a bear.

Charles,
You mentioned that you’d like to hear more about the possibility of activity in the Mid-Atlantic states. I had what I believe to be an encounter many years ago in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. After hearing hundreds of other testimonies, I’m convinced that what paced me and harassed me in the forest that evening was definitely a Sasquatch.

Hi South Carolina Native ,
I’ve lived here near the beach , 5 miles as a Seagull fly’s from Surfside Beach since 1985 !
There was a sighting of a Sasquatch at the old MYRTLE BEACH AIR FORCE BASE , it is now Market Commons . I heard it was Air Force Guys was out on patrol and spotted one on base in the wooded areas.
With Huntington Marsh , HuntingtonBeach State Park, Brookgreen Gardens,
There is a Huge Wildlife management area not even half mile from our home and it runs all the way down most of the state along the Waccamaw River .
What’s really weird is I hear gun shots at night towards The Farm , it goes on quite long sometimes, like they are trying to scare something off their farm ,just weird. Another thing is I live in a gated community and some times there are a lot of missing dogs and cats in the neighborhood you see the signs by the front gate of the community. JUST WEIRD THINGS!!
