A listener writes “Dear Wes, I am writing you in regards to some trail cam photos and videos I have. The trail camera photos are taken in mid-eastern Georgia in the year of 2022. And the videos are videos from tonight.
The trail camera photos have baffled my friends and me and we have laughed them off as just “something” in the woods. The photos are at night and show big, reflective eyes at a distance of roughly 25 yards from the camera and are at a height of approximately 10’. The eyes are over an ATV trail and the series of photos has since never set right with me because of the apparent outline of a face if zoomed in.

The video is two I was taking and sharing with my brother tonight, 8/30/23, during the “blue moon”. My brother texted me and told me to look and then sent me a photo. So, I stepped outside and took some photos and sent them to him. But, wanting a video, I stepped outside to my back yard to record the moon in video so I could screen shot a more perfect photo. I have two videos with what I can only describe as “orbs” of green/blue light. I try to follow the “orbs” somewhat but the “orbs” just dart and move very fast.
I love your podcast and never thought I would send you an email. Perhaps you can help solve these mysteries for me because I would much like to hunt where this is happening again.”

Could be off on the height… and it’s another deer like the one in the foreground… or… it could be something big stalking the deer. Would be nice if there was a daytime photo to compare. Glad you sent it in and Wes posted.

Yes, would be nice if they showed us how they determined the height.

Strange light is the only conclusion there is. Ruke them in the name of Jesus.

I noticed in the first video the camera moved in unison with the light indicating the source of the light was coming from whoever is holding the camera, maybe holding a laser pointer and a camera at the same time, and the laser is shinning against glass. That’s my opinion anyway.

Your close knobby. The exaggerated movement of the dot of light that is in sync with the camera motion is actually just lens flare caused by the by bright contrast of the moon against the dark surroundings.
It’s the same effect that happens when trying to get a picture of the sun with various types of optics. No humans reaction time could ever follow something in such a way. If we start putting anything into stuff like this we’ve become afraid of our own shadows.
(Now not directed at you knobby)
The eyes. You can see how the ground rises and the trail appears to narrow the further back into the distance it goes… it’s called perspective and when you know more about art you learn about something called a “vanishing point”. The missing information to the ground under the eye-shine that gets lost in the shadows or dark area is creating the illusion that they are higher off the ground than they actually are.
Some science actually works, other “science” is isn’t even science at all and only ideas, speculation, or a perpetrated form of structure that someone wants to crucify you to.
Experience in life is the best teacher. Sometimes we have to think within the confines of Mr. Wizard or Bill Nye first, or everything is going to seem like voodoo magic.
When life drops you soberly into the deep end of the pool you’ll know it. Personally I don’t see anything even remotely worth looking at in these pics/videos.
I don’t think people actually realize the detriment or negativity they cause to society by either promoting fear as “entertainment” or by exercising their right to be publicly ignorant in unhealthy ways and thusly creating various negative and emotional reactions within others.
Sometimes the perpetrators don’t think about the term to “leave people hanging”. Think about it.
How is this any different than someone using drugs out of ignorance for their own personal pleasure and then discarding a syringe to be washed up on a public beach?
Is this how we want to live? If you knew how unsettling it is for me to be out walking my dog and then disposing of other people’s “ignorance” so good people don’t have to see it you’d understand why I do it and how I know it must affect people when they see it, because it affects me when I see it.
I just wish everyone could see at least what I have seen and have experienced so far within life, or at least teach more of the young ones better values.
If we don’t try harder within ourselves for the sake of others we may eventually lose those kinds of people that actually care. It’d be a shame the best of us just gave up because the amount of trash piling up became too overwhelming because companies were paying people to make more of it.
I pray for everyone to be a little wiser, happier and healthier and also more conscious of reality and the hear and now. Make a difference please

I see a deer on the left of the photo. The eyes in the trail do seem to substantially higher than it in light of the longer distance from the cam. I do know that often there is far more information in a digital photo than first glance. Often times you can bring out further detail by using a photo editor and adjusting the brightness/contrast. I had photos on my game cam in which there appeared to be nothing but when I adjusted the b/c it brought out animals that before were not visible. It may work with the set of eyes on the trail with the original digital photo.
Ron S
Steven, there may not be any additional info in the picture around the further set of eyes no matter how you try to enhance it because of image quality, or because the image was altered. I saw that right away myself.
Ron S
It could be an image as clear as what Todd Standing represents, and nobody is still going wild over those… photos of a Sasquatch may be worth a thousand words, and that’s about it.
Steven B
As I said, you need to be using the original photo. This would be unaltered.
The game cam I have was the cheapest I could find as I was using it to monitor my mailbox as I had vandalism from time to time. When using it as a game cam I would often get photos that there didn’t appear to be anything there but darkness beyond the area photographed. Using a photo editor and adjusting brightness/contrast, I would eventually bring out the animal that triggered the photo
