I posted this story to the blog but I wanted to update it with some audio that was sent to me from the Big Thicket in Texas. The listener writes “I’m sure you are busy but since I sent you the link to my YouTube of the howl, yell, whatever… I wanted to send the audio of event that David Ellis analyzed and ‘cleaned it up some’. Happy new year and I love the show!”
Here was the original posts:
I have lived within miles of SHNF for 39 years and I’ve seen things I still can’t explain or believe. One that bothers me ( that I can’t shake) was the discovery of a dead dog off lone star trail. We hike the west side of lone star trail and one day I noticed something off the main trail on a small game trail under brush. It was a warm Texas day in September so this animal was fresh because no odor was noticable. I looked down and was shocked to see a large white Shepard dog covered up with what I would say was a crude “mini teepee”. The logs/ branches we’re about 2-3 ft long and some were too heavy for even a coyote to pick up ( I ruled out all animals since they couldn’t have propped the sticks like this).
The dead dog was in perfect condition except it’s back legs were twisted ( bone showing out hock area) and it’s intestines we’re neatly laying beside it. No other marks anywhere. I don’t believe a human did it and a car or atv wouldn’t have ran it over and just twisted back legs without injuring it in other areas. It was someone’s pet at one time because it had a faded bandana around it’s neck. Very sad and disturbing.
This always made me wonder why these branches we’re built over it and was the predator out there with me since im pretty sure it was a fresh kill.
I believe a bf researcher had been studying that area because buckets were hung with fishing wire high between two trees and random fruit were found laid out on downed trees way out in woods. Also I’ve had SO many weird occurrence out here, I’m sure it’s a good research spot.
If you would ever like to chat about my “incidents” please email me but thought that was a story you maybe interested in.”

Wow….was the first “yell” done by the individuals making the recording to see if they could get a response?

Damn, that scream sounded real close it’s weird how the call echoed and the dream didn’t. That kinda stuff will make you clinch up pretty good – that’s those damned creek freaks for ya

The howl sounded too human to me to be anything but a person. If a BF was to howl that close to human I believe that their chest & bones would have rattled. Doesn’t sound DogMan to me either. Sounds like a man’s howl. I was hoping for a BF or DM howl too. FYI

That yell sound much like a person, but what do I know?
Being in the forest at night is scary to me.

Now that sounds like a fun time deep in the heart of Texas.

The first scream sounded like it came from the guy standing next to her, the second ones were creepy…and close.
