A listener writes “Hearing others talk about their encounters has encouraged me to share our Sasquatch sighting. I’m not sure how much you’d like details, so I’ll give you the abbreviated story:

In 1996, when I was 15, we almost ran over a Sasquatch on highway 31, on our way from La Pine to the Christmas Valley / Fort Rock area of Oregon.

When I say we, it was my younger brother and sister, my best friend at the time and his parents, all in the car, heading to their ranch for a weekend stay.

We were going around a sweeping corner, before dusk, when my friend’s mom, who was driving, screamed out “holy shit” and slammed on the brakes. I looked up to see a large, hairy, ape/humanlike creature running across the road directly in front of us, so close that we nearly clipped it. We got an extremely close look at its face, as it gazed through the windshield at us, with an equally “oh shit” expression on its face.

We sat there in the car, in stunned silence, watching it run away for the next 30-40 seconds, as it hurdled over deadfall trees, like it was a Track & Field Olympian.

The next day, my Dad, an ex-logger & avid hunter, tracked it for a bit, and found hairs near a cave he claims could be a shelter. He also noted that he had to crawl over the deadfall, or go under it, making us think there’s no way a human could run through there that fast and that fluidly.

Without telling us his tactics, my father also interrogated each of us kids, separately, and instantly believed us when we all had the exact same story and descriptions.”
