DAINGERFIELD, Tx – TheSearch for Bigfoot weekend will kick off tonight at Daingerfield State Park with a cult classic movie from 1972 at the Amphitheater – The Legend of Boggy Creek.
On Saturday, the park will host several educational programs including fun making Bigfoot art at the Nature Center. The resident storyteller will present a children’s Bigfoot story. Campfire Songs with Rich will begin at 6pm. The highlight of the weekend will be the “Searchin for Bigfoot Hike” hosted by a Park Ranger leading you up a winding path through the dense forest to the summit of Iron Hill. To bring the weekend event to a fitting conclusion, there will be a dance with classics from a vintage jukebox from 8:00pm to 10:00pm.
Daingerfield State Park Superintendent Steve Killian said, “There’s a pandemic of of inactivity in our society and we want people to come outside, hike the trails, enjoy, smell the beautiful aromas of the forest and just have a great time.”
Park officials invite you to bring a picnic and enjoy the newly enhanced views from the day-use area. Fish off the pier or rent a boat and try your luck throughout the lake. Crappie, bluegill, bass, catfish and chain pickerel are commonly caught. Swim in the clear, spring feed waters of Lake Daingerfield before it gets too cool.
