Funny but it is this very thing that causes people to laugh at real witnesses when they try to tell someone about what they have seen. If this kind of thing is the only experience you have concerning the topic then of course you are going to think the whole idea is absurd! The media does the same kind of thing with the topic of UFOs. They make it into a comedy or science FICTION so no one will ever take take people who have experienced them seriously.
