A listener writes “I wanted to write and share some experiences that I have had and continue to have here in Utah, specifically the Uinta Basin.

I’ve heard several shows where people have come on and told their experiences about encounters here in Utah and more specifically the Uinta Basin. I recall several episodes specifically the helicopter pilot and power line worker who saw them in an open field in the Ashley National Forest. Also, several encounters of them near and around Utah Lake where one chased the teens in their truck (dogman). And mostly the encounter Johnathan had with his family a couple years back in the Uinta Basin above the town of Kamas in the Upper Setting Rd area.

I spend most of my time in the Uinta Basin above Kamas and more specifically in the upper setting area where Johnathan and his family had their encounters with the wood knocks and ultimately him having seen a glimpse of it. The Uinta’s have a long history of these things being in the area and surrounding area. Myself along with two other friends have had a number of experiences in the Upper Setting area , Bald Mt. Area and the Soapstone Basin area all within fifteen minutes of each other in location.

We have come across footprint impressions, have heard tree knocks , heard screams, howls , screams, and chatter in these areas. On one occasion we were out camping and did a few tree knocks and got several knocks back along with a loud and deep scream back towards our direction. The scream sounded very primate like and like a gorilla. It’s really the best way I can describe it because it didn’t sound like anything that would be consistent with the wildlife in the area. We have come across foot impressions as well. In areas off the beaten track and in areas that nobody would be walking around barefoot. We were amazed and in awe at the impressions and how visual they were. They were child-like in size and or juvenile . Whatever made the impression had weight to it because of how deep the impressions went into the ground.

On other occasions we have been sitting around the fire pit in the daylight and have whistles in our direction but with nothing having been seen and or heard. It was on this occasion that I believe I saw the back side of one. Approximately ten minutes after hearing the whistle in our direction I saw an auburn/reddish colored figure go behind a set of trees. As I can recall it seemed to be the backside of something very big. I also observed there to be long hair coming off of it. As it moved it’s way into the area of thick trees I saw a big buck grey and white in color run off quickly from that same area. Trying to understand it all and telling the other two who were with me what I’d just seen I tried to make sense of it. Later I went over there to try and estimate height etc where I saw the figure. Now I only stand 5’6 but this thing towered near the trees I was standing by. Though this happened just last summer It’s as vivid as ever.

The latest set of events happened last weekend. We were up in the Upper Setting area . We hiked up into an area where there was a body of water. We had placed ourselves up on a rocky ridge line and did some hollers and used a sound blaster . We played some pre-recorded audio of the Ron Morehead audio. We did this for a bit and then sat quietly for a period of time blacked out. As night fell we heard tree breaks and movement below our position in the forest. After more time we then observed four sets of eyes yellow in color looking into our direction from below. The sets of eyes would move about in the trees and seemed evident that whatever it was it was looking at us. Mind you that we are in an area that nobody to our knowledge was in. A very difficult area to navigate in and get to however, something was looking at us. This lasted for fifteen minutes or so before the eyes just disappeared. The eyes were self luminis and at no time did we shine our lights onto whatever it was these things were. We went back the following morning to the same area to see if there was any evidence of anything being there where we saw the luminis eyes. To our amazement there were footprints in the soil. sixteen and seventeen inches in length. To my knowledge there has been lots of sightings in the surrounding area of this.

There have been plenty of things we have heard and witnessed in the areas as previously mentioned. One of the guys who I camp with and also work with had an experience with his family in these areas. He and his family actually observed the thing and had interaction with it. The thing was pounding on their camper and the threw sticks and so forth in their direction. I’ve really been encouraging him to write to you to tell his story but It’s truly an amazing account. Wes, I could go on and on with more experiences we have had. My reason for writing it is because I know others have had encounters in these same areas. I hope that by telling my accounts and experiences will allow more to want to come forth to tell theirs. These things are out here and Utah has a rich history of them. I know you’re a busy man and completely understand if you don’t respond but I want to do my due diligence in getting this info out there.
