A listener writes “Hi wes im a huge fan of your show and am a born and bred Australian, i know it might sound crazy but about 18 months ago about 2 hours inland from the east coast of nsw I was camping with 3 friends and heard a similar sound to those i have heard on youtube, at the time of hearing them we all thought it may have been an injured dingo (a wild dog native to Australia that wont bark but howls and sort of whines) but there was an off feeling about it for me, i wasn’t exactly a “believer” at the time but i was by no means a skeptic, anyway being an insomniac my friends all went to their swags around 3 am and i stayed up around the fire, after about 15 minutes of sitting there alone i heard more of these noises they are hard to explain but all i know is they scared the absolute shit out of me, i heard no movement but they were getting louder and closer, i had a hunting knife close by and a compound bow on hand, i sat there and waited silently to take what ever it was on, be it wild dog pack or whatever and nothing emerged, about 20 minutes later i heard bipedal footsteps near the river about 60 metres west of me and a bang bang bang bang on a tree and then silence, needless to say i told no body and didnt sleep that night and was first to pack up the next day, all i want to really know is have you had any reports of bigfoot/sasquatch/yowie(as theyre commonly known in Australia) or am i going mad?”

Go to YOWIEHUNTERS on the web. Lots of audio reports and some videos too. Hundreds of people have seen yowies, or the tall man or hairy man as the aboriginals call them.

Aboriginals say they the Yowie was there when the natives made their way into Australia. With all that racket and banging sounds like one or more to me.

Soooooo…these things smell the fire. Then scream alerting others far away that there are people down here. They make their way to the river so they can find big clean rocks to smack together. Four smacks for four people. Interesting.

If you like reading, search the Amazon kindle store for Tony Healey and Paul Cropper’s book ‘The Yowie: In Search of Australia’s Bigfoot’. You can read it on kindles or a tablet, and it has hundreds of Yowie encounters. It’s out of print, but is one of the best Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yowie books out there. Where were you exactly? (I’m also an Aussie)
