At all times, man has tried to find the Truth and understand the meaning of life and everything that exists. To do this, he turned either to a variety of religious movements, or to various philosophical teachings. Maybe that's why more and more people turned their attention to one of the most ancient, which later became one of the world's religions - Buddhism. After all, Buddhism, in essence, is a religious and philosophical teaching about spiritual awakening and has no concept of God as a person, unlike, for example, the Abrahamic religions or the closer Brahmanism or Zoroastrianism. It is difficult to call Buddhism a religion also because it has many directions that differ in their essence more than different confessions of the same religion. What does such a mysterious Buddha offer us as a picture of the world? In the traditional concept of religion, any deity or his prophet requires faith and the intention of the student to blindly follow the path that the Teacher will indicate. This postulate is turned upside down by the young Siddhartha Gautama, later nicknamed the Buddha ("Enlightened"). After the trials that fell to his lot, having gone through a difficult path in trying to free his spirit, this Teacher told his students not to believe anything until they tested it themselves by experience. He never identified himself with God or His messenger, on the contrary, he preached that God is inside everyone, and everyone can become Enlightened. "Be your own lights," the Buddha said. The task of his life, the prince of the Shakya clan, considered helping all living beings to get rid of suffering, from the wheel of Samsara, and preached the doctrine of non-harm: "Do not cause another what could be the cause of your suffering," he taught. What are the basic principles of his teaching left to us by this wise man who chose his Path of liberation from the suffering of eternal existence, suddenly realizing the common connection of the invisible worlds? He preached such a truth that life is duhkha, one of the properties of the manifested world, which in approximate translation can be defined as "suffering, dissatisfaction" and it happens of this quality:- Bodily suffering. This category includes the duhkha of birth, illness, old age and death.- Suffering of feelings. Here we should attribute the suffering from union with the unloved and separation from the beloved, the impact of any adverse external factors that can be combined in one word "unfreedom".- Suffering as a species. This is suffering from impermanence (change) and suffering from the realization that they exist. The second truth is that suffering has causes. And these reasons are very clear - the thirst for pleasure, the thirst for power, various passions and attachments. At the heart of life is an attraction to something, and the law of Karma dominates over all this. Moreover, karma is not fate, as some teachings believe. Karma is just our action that generates future retribution for these actions.Consider the karmic factors. These are murder, theft, violence, lies, rude speech, greed and ignorance. Everything seems to be clear here and echoes the commandments of other religions, except for the concept of "ignorance". We usually believe that ignorance should somehow justify us. But the doctrine of karma says that ignorance generates an abnormal state of mind that leads to negative action, and negative action is negative karma. For example, we have not been instilled with real values since childhood, we do not know them, and therefore we think that we will be happy if we steal a million from the bank. Because of this state of mind, we go to theft, and maybe to murder. And such ignorance generates a negative consequence, which will be embodied in some turn of the wheel of Samsara. The third truth is the way of liberation from suffering. The method is very effective, but it is very difficult to use it: liberation from all passions and desires and the achievement of "nirvana" is a state of complete rest, "non-existence", the highest goal of Buddhism, in which the chain of endless rebirths stops. The fourth truth is the eightfold path of achieving "nirvana". This path affects a person's thoughts and actions, it consists of three stages:- Wisdom- Morality- Concentrated contemplation, meditation. The stages of this path can be described for a very long time and in detail. But you need to start small, every master was once an amateur. And everyone who craves knowledge will find their Way to the Truth.
