A listener writes “Hello Wes, I had a possible encounter in 1988, I was living in Pinckneyville Illinois near the Beaucoup creek.

The back of my house was around 12 feet from a fence that divided the wood line and my yard. The wood line went down a pretty steep hill to the creek. At the back of my house was the kitchen windows that faced the woods. It was a warm early summer night and I had the windows open and was sitting at the kitchen table . I was messing with my tattoo machine, I was sitting sideways to the windows. I was tattooing my lower leg when I noticed out the corner of my eye something look down into the top of the window. At the same exact time I caught the smell of stinky mud. The hair on my neck stood on end and I knew something was there watching me, but I did not react to it, or turn to look letting it know I was aware. I calmly got up and went to the living room closet where I kept a 22 rifle and slipped out the side door. I made my way around back thinking I was going to scare someone messing around, but once back there I heard something huge running down that hill of woods making a heck of a racket breaking branches and I could hear the thumps of foot steps on the ground, in seconds I could hear it hit the creek water, cross the creek and go through the woods on the other side of the creek and fade out.

I wasn’t into Bigfoot back then, so never thought to look for foot prints or anything. Thinking back today, I am almost certain it had to be. To look down into the top of those windows it had to be 7 foot tall or better. And around the same time that year there were reports of Bigfoot near Murphysboro Illinois just South of Pinckneyville. They called it the big muddy monster. Which the Beaucoup creek ran into the big muddy river in between Pinckneyville and Murphysboro.

I have told everyone from then to now about that night, some believe me and most don’t. Not that I really care who believes. In 1993 my wife became a believer, we were living in Potosi Missouri and had been visiting my parents in DuQuoin Illinois, we were headed home on highway 8 in Missouri it was October around 12 midnight maybe closer to 1 a.m. and out of nowhere in the headlights on the side of the road like right on the white line of my lane was a huge hairy beast. I could make out the shape of a huge person figure but covered in hair. I was running about 70 mph in a 1976 impala, I got about a mile down the road and looked over at my wife and said, I think I saw a Bigfoot back there. She instantly said she saw it to but didn’t want to say anything. I started to slow down to turn around and she freaked out begging me not to as we had kids sleeping in the back seat. I was 240 pounds 6ft.6in. and feared nothing, but she convinced me to continue on to the house. We have talked about it many times over the years and told family and friends. My wife always says she was very scared and says it was close enough to grab her through the window. She says she believes if we went back it would have killed us all.”
