Jackson County, Missouri in 2016 I was fishing at a set of ponds that back up to a wooded area, not far from Monkey Mountain in Grain Valley.
I had been there for about an hour or more, caught a few fish, and threw them back. Tonight was very clear and temperate, a beautiful night actually.
I thought I heard a faint noise across a channel between ponds, but not far from me. Jokingly, I grunted.
A few moments later, a large rock was thrown into the pond towards me. It scared me so bad I immediately grabbed my things and high tailed it out of there. am an avid outdoorsman and night fisherman. I know the sounds around lakes, ponds, and woods at night. This was a large rock that had to have been thrown. I left the area quickly.

That’s not the only monkey pond out there. Seems the name is used for good reasons. Hey BTW boys.

Sounds a little like my episode. I was fishing with a buddy on a dead calm night. Someone or SOMETHING started throwing large rocks at us in our boat. Some of them went over our head and landed in the water behind us. I got real pissed real fast and started yelling at the perpetrator but didn’t see anyone or hear anything. It was pitch black up on shore and you couldn’t get a bead on where the rocks were coming from. BTW, we didn’t stick around long. Now later in life I found out the lake has a history of boogers.
