The Charlotte Observer is a newspaper serving Charlotte and its metro area. It has the largest circulation in North Carolina and South Carolina.
The Charlotte Observer writes “Multiple reports of a Bigfoot with glowing red eyes in the North Carolina town of Mocksville have been explained, and it turns out the callers weren’t imagining things.
Davie County Animal Services revealed in a Friday Facebook post that the creature seen standing in a forested area is an 8-foot wooden statue of a Bigfoot and not the real thing.
“This handsome fellow stands on Pine Ridge Road,” says the county’s post. “If you are traveling this road at night, please be advised that the eyes appear to glow. If you see this phenomenon, you do not need to call animal control to report seeing Bigfoot, Sasquatch or any other large creature. Thank you.”

Animal services told the Charlotte Observer the statue’s eyes are embedded with red glass marbles, which are reflecting the headlights of passing cars.
The department has had multiple calls about the statue — all at night — from people who believed they were seeing the legendary creature believed by some to live in deeply forested areas.
The existence of Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, has yet to be proven, but sightings have been reported for decades across the nation.
Davie County’s warning immediately drew disbelief from Facebook commenters, prompting animal services to add more explanation.
“The ACOs (Animal Control Officers) asked for this post, because they are tired of answering calls,” said the followup post.
The carving is on private property, and does not violate any laws, officials told the Charlotte Observer.

They will grasp at anything to explain away the phenomenon. I’d be willing to bet not all reports were in that location and I’m sure the statue is not very mobile.

I LOVE the red marble things embedded in the eyes….must have taken them a bit to cover that detail, lol.
Wes
I thought the same thing. 🙂

Thinking about it I would have paid $ to be in that brainstorming session….
#1 “How are we gonna to cover the red, glowing eyes?”
#2 “We’ll put marbles up in there”
#1 “You know what…that’ll work and then we will put out a story on it and throw them off!”
Lol

Sorry to burst everyone’s bubble, but this isn’t a cover up, there has been a wooden statue of Bigfoot on that property for several years, not the same one as storms have taken out prior statues, and everyone who sees it at night reports that they seen glowing red eyes 8 feet off the ground.
The eyes aren’t actually marbles, they are pieces of red glass cut into an oval shape. The guy that put the statue there did so because he is a firm believer in Sasquatch, he put it there as a tribute , just like how ppl put up statues of bears and other animals, it was standing there 10+ years ago when I left NC, and I’m sure it’ll continue standing there

Well Will you did burst our bubble, now I’ve got to go back and explain this to Wes and the rest of the conspiracy club ?

Does he make others, maybe a little thicker. I have a 4 1/2 footer in my front yard, however it is quite proportional. I bought it in Covington, Ohio while across the street at a Subway shop. It distressed my wife a bit at first, but she knows how I am. This Christmas I decorated it with red lights. Maybe I will find some red glass also.

It’s typical that this kind of article makes national news. I have buddies from 3 different states who have read this.

That must have been pretty freaky seeing those glowing red eyes, thinking one was seeing the real thing.

Will, I never doubted it was a real statue but rather that it would be used to dismiss all similar sightings in the area whether they occurred on that road or not. ” I just saw a large creature with red eyes” To which the reply might be ” Oh you must have seen the statue, there is a fellow out that way that has a life size statue in the woods.” I know I have become paranoid about the lengths some will go to cover up the existence of this mystery.

I’m from this area and I’m sure alot of people would be disappointed they didn’t see the real thing. There have been plenty of people that have had encounters here.My brother actually has his own 8ft Bigfoot Statue in his woods going up his driveway. Alot of Beliveres here and some Knowers.
