Mt. Hood Sasquatch Festival brings hundreds of Bigfoot fans to Welches

PORTLAND, Ore. KOIN 6 writes “A brand-new Bigfoot festival kicked off at Mt. Hood on Friday night — an event that’s sure to bring out the believers, the skeptics, and everyone in between. While the northwest has several Bigfoot-themed events, organizers say this festival in Welches stands out.

“You come with an open mind and a willing ear and you’ll be enlightened for sure,” said Lori Cabantoy, organizer of the Mt. Hood Sasquatch Festival. Cabantoy also says the festival brings hundreds of Bigfoot fans face-to-face with top researchers, authors, and paranormal experts.

Enthusiasts are on a mission to piece together evidence that could spark a major breakthrough in cryptozoology — the hunt for hidden creatures, like Bigfoot. Jimmy Toungate says he got hooked after two possible encounters, with the last one coming while driving along the interstate in North Bend, Washington.

“I (saw) something like eight feet tall, cinnamon-colored hair,” he said. “In my mind, (it) just kind of locked up for a second. I was like ‘Did I really just see that?’”

Whether you’re a seasoned squatcher or just squatch-curious, this legendary event mixes forest vibes, family fun, and a touch of mystery. “We just really wanted to glorify the mountain and really highlight the beauty that it is,” Cabantoy said.

“If you’re ready to get your Big-foot in the door, weekend passes are $40, or just $25 for Saturday only.
