I have posted this before but I think it is important to remind everyone why you should go armed in the woods, you never know what you are going to run into.

Mountain lions, tigers and bears oh my. Not to mention cannibal giants, I am always packing- even when I go to the Mall shopping. BF or anti-christian Islamist’s, be ready for anything..

I saw rocks right there on the ground. At what point do you stop videoing and start grabbing rocks and drill that s.o.b.? I’ll bet a million bucks if you put one welt on that cats ass, it’d be in the next county before you have to throw another rock. That guys lucky he didn’t get attacked the first time he ran. Probably why that cat stuck around to see if he could have a yuppie on a bike for dinner.

EXACTLY! As a deer and black bear hunter I would have instantly picked up a large stick and begin waving it in an aggressive manner towards that meat eater. It is truly amazing how some people think they are completely in control of their environment.

Absolutely agree. Screwing around with a camera when you should be concerned for your safety.

Agreed, agreed Dave. And if you had a .44 or a 357 like any normal human being would have, once you left where the pavement ends, you’d be having Kitty for dinner

I saw a documentary recently that said the Canine Distemper Virus was infecting large populations of big cats worldwide. It apparently causes them to lose their natural fear of humans just before they enter the aggressive stage of the disease. Looks like this guy might have come across this cat just in time!

People need to respect Mother Nature and the unwritten rules or common sense rules that apply when entering her space. I, for one, never venture into any wilderness, forest., mountain range and desert solo, a survival fact period. I pack and prepare for the worst nightmare to become a reality, I think safety. The wilderness also is home to some rather large, strong, stealthy and violent animals….not to mention with incredible speed. I bring along other tools which are a necessity, but I will not mention..My opinion on the lion, I would have dropped him on his first approach on the flank from the tall grass. Its obvious he was hiding…that is what predators do.

I would have blasted him all too eagerly. Dragged away the body, chopped off the tail, maybe a paw or two then call it good!

I feel safer when I carry my 10mm. It would work against most all critters I would encounter…except one.

So scary! And– I have one IN MY BACK YARD !!!
Scares me to even go out to our barn.

Everytime you step out your front door you enter the food chain. Sometimes the food chain enters your front door too.

Not convinced the said Mtn lion made the aggressive sound we heard during this video…just saying his fingers where in the way and his camera jiggled around at the time.

That cat was Deffinitely considering him has lunch. Either it had Distemper (doubtful, as it did not look confused or wobbly), or it was trying to decide if he was easy prey or not.
Unfortunately, any cougar who is THAT unafraid of humans needs to be put down fast. It will eventually kill some one, if it hasn’t already.
I wish the fellow had given it a proper “hazing” at least……bounce some big rocks off its ass, yell, get big, stomp feet, and chase it when it runs. Give it a reason to fear humans!
But it just sauntered off, after deciding he was too much of a risk. “Well….I might get hurt here…..so not this human, but perhaps the next one?” Creepy!
It’s going to end up needing to be shot…….hopefully BEFORE it kills someone!

I feel sorry for the next person this lion encounters, it probably won’t be afraid at all.
