Ivan T. Sanderson interviewed the Chapman’s a year prior to their death. The article was written in 1960, True Magazine. The issue of covering the children with a blanket, according to Mrs. Chapman was not due to Amerindian lore. She stated she feared the creature was interested in the children and therefore would follow them. Mr. Sanderson pointed out that as he was leaving the interview, Mrs. Chapman relayed the most interesting information as to the sound the creature made, a gurgling whistle. Which was also reported on in California some 600 miles from British Columbia. Mr. Sanderson felt it to be factual and rare that individuals so far apart would report the same sound and a sound unknown to be made by any other animal. As reported the Chapman children had all deceased by this interview. The little boys by drowning and the little girl on her sick bed. This story goes down in Bigfoot lore, but it’s a terrible tragedy by any accounts that all members of the family are deceased. Had the children survived that 1941 incident they well could have told their eyewitness accounts today.
