A Canadian newspaper reported a story about a gorilla supposedly caught near Yale, British Columbia in 1884. The story, titled “What is it?, A strange creature captured above Yale. A British Columbia Gorilla”, appeared in the British Columbia newspaper the Daily Colonist on July 4, 1884. The original newspaper article describes “Jacko” as a gorilla and not a Sasquatch.

Although the newspaper article is captioned “A British Columbia Gorilla” it goes on to describe Jacko as “a creature which may truly be called half man and half beast”. Further; “he resembles a human being with one exception, his entire body, excepting his hands (or paws)and feet, are covered with glossy hair about one inch long.”.

I agree with you, without photo evidence, appears to be a hoax.
Many individuals were involved in “Jackoe’s”
capture but only one newspaper article was published with so called facts.
