Timothy Nolan, a 36-year-old backpacker from Orange County, was found dead in Yosemite National Park on Wednesday during an extensive search effort.

Yosemite spokesman Scott Gediman said Nolan planned a solo trip through the park from Sept. 4 through Sept. 9, but he never returned from the hike. His last contact with his family was on Sept. 1.

Gediman said the park used dogs, helicopters and search and rescue teams from Sept. 10 through Wednesday to try and find Nolan. Rangers also hung posters with Nolan’s picture around the park. He was eventually spotted off of a well-traveled trail in the High Sierra Camp Loop.

Investigators are working to determine a cause of death. Nolan’s body will eventually be released to the Mariposa County Coroner’s Office for autopsy, Gediman said.

Nolan is the third man found dead in the park this month.

The body of Matthew Baldwin, a 24-year-old University of Nevada, Reno student, was found on Sept. 6.

James Michael Millett Jr., 39, was found dead on Sept. 2 after a three-week search for the missing hiker.

Totally unrelated to this but, I have done the research on the United Nation Biospheres in the United States. Everyone that heard The Insider episodes should remember this. The Big Thicket is indeed one those Biospheres and there are 46 other Biospheres in the United States. If you take the BFRO sighting map and layover these you will see something kinda startling. The Smoky Mts., Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone and on and on. The U.N. does claim sovereignty in these areas even though in the United States Sovereign Territory. This had really bothered me at the time of hearing this
and after watching the Pope address the U.N. it made me think of it. I just don’t remember getting a vote on giving sovereignty to the U.N. when it comes to our land. Do any of you guys?

I concur. Even if they do release a “cause of death”, it cannot be wholly be trusted to be true. Unfortunately, one cannot tell when they are giving a fake cause unless someone “in the know” comes forward. Sad – they say “trust us” but blatantly lie to us and wonder why we have trouble believing them when they do tell the truth of a situation. I don’t think , if it did happen this way, you’ll ever see “mauled to death by Squatch” or something similar. So my question remains, how does one tell when the person really did die of “bear attack” or “exposure” or “fall off cliff” or “drowning” etc. or if they died of some other cause “the powers that be” don’t want known so one of the aforementioned is given as the cause?

I read many of our Nationl Parks were designated as Biosheres by Clinton in 1972; this action was NOT approved by Congress and we had no say in this action whatsoever. I find this suspicious and am sure this change shifts any liability issues to the UN to deal with (or not deal with).

That just plain sucks! Especially when people that should be warning us of the dangers that they KNOW are out there, simply encourage us to spend time in these areas, KNOWING that we are putting our families and friends in much greater danger than we have ever been lead to believe. And for what, fear of losing MONEY? POWER? There are very bad times on our horizon! When everyone finally wakes up, and realizes that we really do have the power if we unite, things will start to change for the better. It will probably be a very violent change and process, but that seems to be the way of mankind, unfortunately. I wish that our children could just be part of a world that was peacefully evolving, embracing knowledge and enlightenment, instead of greed and material wealth, and lies!

We should keep in mind that people can die from any number of causes. A person on a solo hike has all the usual hazards to contend with, but also adds to his risk by venturing out alone.
It is difficult to evaluate what is actually happening if official sources redact critical information from an anomalous death, while allowing other causes of death (such as a fall, or heart attack, etc.) to be made public for the normal mishaps and misfortunes.

I was thinking that, too, Milton, until I read that he was found just off a well traveled path…after an extensive search. Well, I assume the search was extensive. Anyway, I was reminding myself not to jump to conclusions but it reeks of a Paulides 411 case with 3 this month.

That sounds rather cold. These men have loved ones grieving and I don’t want to demean that fact. It angers me to no end to think that there’s a very good chance some of these deaths could have been avoided. Put out a fake rogue bear story or SOMETHING to make people aware of some sort of danger. My heart truly goes out to their loved ones.

Yosemite is the land of the gods. Been there numerous times and I hate to say it but it isn’t Disneyland. Be prepared for some of the most hardcore terrain you can think of. Oh and you are not alone ! Never !

I live near Fresno and we are close to the Park. We get more details than most of you probably have access to. Sequoia/Kings Canyon are in this county and I emailed the sheriff’s office and checked the coroner’s websites for cause of death for these mysterious hiker or camper deaths in our county , and have never received any news.

Jurisdiction is unclear. Yosemite is in a few different counties, Mono, Madera, and Tuolumne counties, and maybe Mono a little bit. But do Forest Service or National Park Service do these autopsies? Who does?

    Wow…

Dave Paulides should weigh in on this!! Family friends are planning a hike to Yosemite in summer 2016 and I have given them my Missing 411 book. They are actually reconsidering…

Man-o-man, these poor families! Someday, those who are in the know will be held in account. After reading the D.P. books, I have little doubt that the powers that be are fully aware about what in the heck has been happening for a very long time! Until the world is once again made perfect(yet future), be safe out there. And don’t believe all the info in the National Parks’ commercials, brochures, etc. Take the sound advice that D.P. offers, if you travel and hike in those places….
