I didn’t watch the vid, but gravity/magnetic/electromagnetic surveys would all be a waste of time for finding underground caverns I think. Best option would be doing a seismic survey. Carrying out the survey is simple, it’s renting the equipment that’s pricey.

Interesting stats Gum. Thanks for posting.

The first thing that caught my eye is that Marquette county (biggest in the state by land area) didn’t make the list. I can’t say it means anything, it just struck me as peculiar.

Here’s one of my favorite reports from up here, mainly because it’s well written. It’s not a class A FYI.

Kudos to Pam, Joe, Steven, Wes, and any others who helped Tracy through a tough time. Great to hear he’s doing good! I can only hope that if something remotely as traumatic ever happens to me I can find people like you for support.

I very rarely post here, but I felt this was worth expressing.

    Cheers,

I agree Debbie, removing the download option might help with the pirating. Unfortunately, it wouldnt put an end to it. Without going into specifics, downloading audio from a websites stream or video is very easy even if there’s no direct download button/link. Removing the download option won’t stop a pirate willing to do an extra step.

I really appreciate the option to download, I use it all the time to listen while driving (bad cell service where I live) so I’d be bummed if it went. If it has to for the sake of minimizing member shows on youtube I won’t complain though.

    Interesting…

Didnt notice anything here in North Michigan (U.P.), though was watching college fb at the reported time. My uninformed guess would be an exploding meteorite similar to Tunguska.

I doubt removing the download option would solve this outright. If it’s removed then they’ll just rip the audio from the stream and post it that way I bet.

I use the download feature a lot to listen when I don’t have cell service, I’d be pretty bummed if it goes. Not as bummed as Wes must be having to spend hard earned money fighting these losers though.

I agree Pam! I’m now addicted to listening to podcasts on long drives, and anything with either Germer brother is the best haha!

The guys over at Expanded Perspectives interviewed Seth Breedlove recently about the movie:

    The Boggy Creek Monster

Looking forward to watching, it’s $3 to stream from Amazon by the way

    Thanks Gum.

The idea of seasonal reports got me thinking, up here with all the lake effect snow in certain areas would bigfoot would be more prone to seasonal migration compared to elsewhere? The Houghton area rarely gets less than 150 inches of snow for example. It takes a lot of energy to move around with snowshoes in the deep stuff. Maybe they move to the southern UP banana belt or into Wisconsin for an easier winter.

Another thought I had is on the deer population. The recent resurgence of wolves up here combined with some especially harsh winters has decimated the deer population. During the peak of overpopulation in the 90’s there were over 500,000. Now there’s less than 150,000. There’s even been discussion of suspending the deer season altogether. I don’t know how reliant on deer bigfoot is, but the population decline probably hasn’t done them any favors.

Sorry to keep only referring to the UP, but it’s the area I’m familiar with.

Also I was picking through some reports and came across a hunter who heard something similar to me. He described it as “kind of like an elephant trumpeting”. I didn’t really get an elephant impression but I thought it was interesting. My take is that I could’ve very well heard a black bear, but the duration just seemed a little too long.

    Excerpt:
Also – I think I will mention this…perhaps it has no relevance to Bigfoot. The same year out in my blind I heard a really strange sound. It sounded kind of like an elephant trumpeting. It was probably about 50 to 60 yards behind my hunting blind. I have never heard of a bigfoot making that kind of sound but that is as close as to the sound I would describe it. It didn’t sound exactly like an elephant trumpeting but close. I heard it twice. Once close and then one more time further in the distance. Very weird but – that’s what I heard and that’s the best way I can describe it. Very loud. http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=33559

I’ve lived in the Upper Peninsula my whole life so far, in 4 different counties in the central and north-west. I was in scouting as a youth, I hunt deer and grouse, and have always gone camping/backpacking (I avoid campgrounds) when I can in the warm months. My point’s that I get out more than the average joe, but am no grizzly adams by any means.

I do not actively research, though I always look out for any possible bigfoot signs while I’m out doing my thing in the woods. I’ve never seen anything interesting, and that doesn’t surprise me. I think Dave’s on the nose that with the low population density and large state & federal forests there just aren’t that many opportunities for human/bigfoot interaction up here in general. There’s some compelling BFRO reports, but yeah, not very many. I would guess that the percentage of sightings reported is lower up here than most of the mid-west in general, though that’s just my impression.

If you go to Google Maps and look at the U.P., everything shaded green is state/federal forest. Then click satellite view and look at just how much is uninterrupted forest. There’s still little towns, farms, houses, and camps in the federal forests, but nothing really substantial compared to the acreage.

I’ve eased into the topic of unexplained screams/growls/sightings with just about all my friends and relatives, but have yet to have anyone admit to anything weird to me. I have a lot of friends in the forestry business, but have only gotten the ‘c’mon sasquatch is a joke, right?’ response out of them as well. Again, that doesn’t really surprise me. Doesn’t hurt to try though right?

The only time I couldn’t explain something I experienced here in the woods was last year, mid to late November during rifle deer season. My father and I got up before light as usual and exited camp at the same time to walk to our respective blinds, in opposite directions. After about 20 yards I hear a loud ‘huff-huffff-hufff’ lasting 3-4 seconds. Somewhere between a cough and a throaty-exhale I’d say, repeated quickly three times of varying duration. I stop to listen, but hear nothing else for a good ten seconds. I hear does and bucks snort and blow all the time while hunting, but this was not in the realm of noises a deer can make in my experience. Worst thing was that the noise came vaguely from the front-right of where I needed to travel. I make sure I have a round chambered (safety on of course), try to put it out of my mind and carry on. I walk a hard dirt road most of the way so I’m very quiet on my approach. I periodically stop and listen for any crunching leaves etc. but hear nothing else from the woods. About 5 minutes later I’m on the home stretch to my blind and the damn noise happens again! Just barely louder this time. Again I stop, listen for movement or anything, but nothing. Whatever it was had to be about 250 to 500 yards away I’m guessing. I keep facing the direction of the noise and back into my blind for the last 100 or so yards. Didn’t see or hear anything the rest of the morning, including deer. Back at camp I bring up the noise with my father and he heard it too the first time. When I ask what he thinks it was he just shrugs his shoulders and stays quiet, which I found to be unusual from him. I brought it up again this summer while at camp with him, mentioning that weird hufffing noise and what could have made it. His response was “Sometimes weird things happen in the woods”. “Like what?” I ask, trying to be nonchalant. “Just unexplainable things” he says, and goes back to cooking. I couldn’t say what made the noises either so I dropped it after that, and now I kind of regret not pushing further. Makes me think he’s holding out on some weird occurrence he or a friend has had at some point. Whenever the time seems right next I’ll try to get more of what he meant out of him. I know it’s not that interesting of a story but I thought I’d post anyways…

I forget the episode # but a guest who drives semis told Wes a quick story at the end of his interview of a possible encounter in the U.P. He was parked at a gas station overnight and had been relieving himself periodically near his rig. After getting back in after going out once, his rig which was loaded, was violently shaken. He said there were big footprints in the snow when he got out to look around. This was supposed to have happened in the Covington area.

On his recent video “3 Creepy Stories New Orleans” Dark Waters mentions how many bigfoot stories he’s been getting lately and that he’d like to take up an offer from Wes to come on SC! Awesome! He’ll also be on Coast 2 Coast May 7!

I wasn’t offended at all by your post Elise, I was just trying to admit to my lack of knowledge in this area of research 🙂

Thanks for the links Elise, some interesting encounters and descriptions.

In my first post I was thinking you needed a big elaborate species line to go from dog to dogman, and that there should be fossils from these ancestors, such as with apes becoming upright. After seeing that two legged dog get around in the video I realized it’s not as big of a step evolution-wise to go from dog to dogman and be proficient bipedally as I had previously thought. Also, comparing the ape family tree to the dogman’s was pretty naive of me I see now, fossils being as rare as they are.
