Nathan, with the holidays over and the weather letting up a bit, have you had another chance to get to your area? Thanks again for sharing your progress and adventures!

Hi Knobby, as Wes and many other forum members have expressed, thank you for all the attention and thoughtfulness you give this forum. You’re doing a great job of keeping the discussion fun and productive.

I’ve listened to your encounter a few times now. It’s one of my favorites. If you have the time and wouldn’t mind sharing your thoughts, I’ve got a couple questions for you:

    1. In which ways did your life change most after that first encounter (hobbies, activities, major questions, motives, decisions, etc.)?

    2. Have you ever clearly seen a Sasquatch’s body/face in the daylight during any of your later encounters?

    Thanks again, Knobby!

Nathan, you seem to be doing a thorough job of documenting your journey publicly. You’ve been transparent about your methods and you’ve connected with some of the most respected and experienced people in the field. After you capture some clean video, I imagine you’ll have a large community of researchers who are familiar with your evidence, know your methods are good, and understand exactly how you got your footage.

What would be the downside of letting your sasquatch group habituate to you longer so you can get a collection of stunning clips to share with your team of expert advisors before going open kimono with the general public? Sort of like how Karl Amman got scientists interested in helping with his Bili ape project. This way the experts can help validate your findings.

I wish you the best with your quest to get great video. You’ve got the skill, AND it’s going to be quite a feat. Sasquatch appear to be stealthy creatures like the Bili ape. Have you seen the disappearing Bili ape footage from the Lukuru Foundation? Looks a bit like the creatures that Mark Saskey captured in “The Bigfoot Researchers Journal” Episode 1.

Nathan, thanks for the armchair quarterback opening! If I had your television and video production background, photography chops, your scouting/survival skills, your on-camera ease, and your connections in the industry, I’d contact Les Stroud, share your footprint video, and pitch him (http://lesstroud.ca/contact). If you didn’t get feedback within a week, I’d call Joe Rogan and see how quickly he can hook you up with Les Stroud.

If you don’t think Les Stroud is trustworthy, rent gear from the SLC thermo-imaging company and hand pick your crew. Don’t have the money? This would make a very interactive Kickstarter campaign.

Thanks again for asking and allowing us to share opions/advice without skin in the game.

With your talents, Nathan, I’m thinking next-level Patty footage! Best wishes to you, Tom

    Hi Nathan,

Sounds like thermal’s where it’s at for you. For your examination of the possible nesting area (s), I’m wondering if you could rent gear and/or buy consulting time with the folks at AerialThermalImaging.com to document your night-time assent on video? Any reality TV folks willing to fund Nathan?

    Good on ya, mate!

    Tom

Thank you, Knobby! Correction and the reference are much appreciated. I value the collective wisdom of this group. I’d not seen this account described before, and it highlights very nicely how a science-minded person would follow-up a sighting with an investigation of the area to search for corroborating evidence.

Nathan, congratulations and kudos to you for your diligent and thoughtful approach to locating an active area. Thank you for sharing your reasoning and data. Your initial video of the prints is exciting! Looks like you have an excellent opportunity to collect high-quality samples. Are you using the sample collection methods recommended by Dr. Meldrum in his Sasquatch Field Guide, or are you using another approach?

Other than the breaking of the trees and the presence, location, and design of the physical branch/log structures themselves, are you seeing any signs Sasquatch on or within the structures?

In your accounts, you describe Sasquatches that were sitting/squatting, standing, charging, and breaking branches with their hands. Did you actually see these things happening? You also describe how close your dogs were to the creature. Could you actually see a creature in front of the dogs? Was there any evidence left behind?

I’m asking these questions because many credible individuals have never actually seen a Sasquatch fully (including Dr. Meldrum), but they have distinct auditory or olfactory experiences that may or may not be accompanied by physical evidence. Les Stroud and John Mionczynski come to mind as examples of people who have had really interesting sensory experiences that they could not easily explain. I don’t think Les Stroud actually collected any evidence that might have corroborated what he supposed he heard, either when in was in the deep woods with his wife or when he was at the water’s edge weaving a grass sleeping matt after filming a sequence for one of his Survivorman shows.

Regarding access to drones and photographic equipment and skills, I’m wondering if you might simply find an outdoor/adventure photographer in your area who is well connected with other photographers/videographers (or Meldrum’s drone project). Some adventure photographers are starting to incorporate drones in their work — bet some near you are looking for a photo or video sequence that could define their career.

Again, great work, Nathan. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Joe, thanks for sharing your book chapter idea and query with the forum. What strikes me is the two-edged sword nature of sharing encounters on the Sasquatch Chronicles site. On the one edge, there’s validation and support in connecting with others who have had similar spooky experiences and there may be important discoveries to be made by studying the collective patterns of these encounters (and responses). On the other edge, describing these experiences vividly can trigger a fear response (phobia) in some.

There’s nothing mysterious about phobias. Consider how you might feel about flying after surviving an airplane crash. Some crash survivors keep reliving and triggering their phobia of flying and decide to never fly again. Others may fly but remain nervous during the flight. And some survivors learn to focus their attention in ways that allow them to calm down and enjoy — or at least tolerate — flying.

As a more relevant example for this group, look at Wes’s encounter and his response. He learned that Sasquatches may be dangerous so he conducts his research with a buddy. Beforehand, he studies the areas he goes into, carries appropriate gear, and may arm himself with more than a camera. Most importantly, Wes is back in the woods exploring more safely than ever, and he is helping others to do the same.

Joe, how about focusing the chapter on stories of those who learned to overcome their phobias and get back into the woods?
