ParticipantNo offense to the folks on the other forum, but I’ll accept hoax way before bear.

ParticipantI don’t know exactly. It’s was an acquaintance of an acquaintance of my soon to be brother in law who lives near Wiggins. He couldn’t find the picture on his facebook a few months back when I rekindled the talk about it, but I ran across the picture recently and forgot that I saved the it, so maybe if I send it to him it will jog his memory.

ParticipantIf it’s a suit, not just anyone could wear that suit, but… Oh yeah, the arrow is there to point to what appears to be the creature on it’s knuckles.

ParticipantGators are definitely a problem if you have little kids. Here in Louisiana, we like the taste of gator meat
(eat it hot though, it gets tough when it cools)

ParticipantI concur Shannon, something has to give. Although I now believe that America might have it bad for only 1-3 months until we sell our soul. Tell our citizens they can’t have cell phones and air conditioning and they will do whatever is necessary to get them back. So bringing it back to sasquatch…if people hit the woods to escape the masses I think there will suddenly be many more people believing in sasquatch. It just might payoff prep-wise to know about sasquatch behavior.

ParticipantI don’t know what sasquatch is, but I agree Jay: The Human Race.

ParticipantAs discussed there are a lot of variables. Another variable might be your wallet. If you don’t have $900 for a lever action .45/70, and another $80 for a box of cartridges, you can get a 12 gauge for about $200, new. As I mentioned I choose 12 ga for around my house/property instead of buying rounds for my .45/70. At long distance (over 100 yards) the .45/70 will out perform it. The question to ask is, What’s your application? I contend the 12 gauge is versatile and is better in more situations. If your looking to defend your tent and campsite I have no problem putting my life behind a 12 gauge, assuming it’s not too long or heavy to pack. Not to mention it may be dark and sasquatches don’t always let you shoot them: you can buy buck and ball combination shells, where you have a slug in the center and buck shot that spreads (7.5 inches at 30ft, 15 inches at 50 ft). I say that mainly to point to it’s versatility. I keep a slug first up, and I have a light on my shotgun. I have no problem with a .45/70 being a proper dangerous game gun. I also have no problem with the results of the 12 gauge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKJulgRzxp0

ParticipantJanW – In that area you’d have to suspect dogman possibilities too.

ParticipantI appreciate that opinion and insight Mark. I don’t have any bear hunting experience so I wasn’t sure, but I felt like if a round didn’t penetrate a bear’s skull, he’d be pretty darn dazed.
Another penetration example: I once shot a hickory ax handle with a .357 at about 20 yards using fmj, a hollow point, and a Winchester silver bullet jacketed hollow point. All went through no problem, the only difference is how big a chunk was blown out the back. The fmj didn’t move/knock down the ax handle and created a round exit hole. An ax handle isn’t a skull, but, it’s pretty solid.

ParticipantI just feel good with my .357 on my hip so I use it just out and about. It probably would run one off but it probably wouldn’t drop one barring a head, neck, or spine shot.
You asked about in the field, well most of my experiences have been near my house. I set out last August or so to buy a .45/70 govt round that I thought would certainly do the job if it came down to it around the house. I found that the rounds that I needed were $80+ per box, but when I coupled that to the facts that my .45/70 is a crack barrel single shot and I could get more energy from a 12 ga. 7/8 slug, I bought a few boxes of slugs.
I was going for knock down power, so energy was my number one concern. My .45/70 Hornady Leverevolutions offer 2000 ft lbs. at the muzzle – not bad. A 7/8oz 12 ga. slug has almost 3,000 ft. lbs. at the muzzle, and I can fit 7 in my shotgun. (The 7/8 oz slug has more energy than a 1 oz slug. (Much like a .357 having more energy than a .45). Yeah so that’s what I went with. I also agree that a long gun will draw attention from wildlife agents, but I might still do it depending on where. Also, if what people say is true, a long gun could keep you from seeing a sasquatch.
I remember 13-years ago or so reading an account of an old man that was bow hunting in Alabama, carrying a .357, when a bigfoot showed up and jumped at the bottom of his stand. It almost touched the stand, so the man shot four rounds that he was confident hit him in the chest, and the creature ran off screaming. The man left and wanted nothing to do with it. Hope this helps.

ParticipantOrganizing hunting parties? I want no part of that; air rifles and blowguns just ain’t enough for me to hunt with. Okay, a bow or crossbow would make me feel a little better.

ParticipantGood lookin’ out Six. That, is something. I have not heard that mentioned at all in the articles and videos that I’ve seen. It’s really disappointing. 1) We’re paying for this harassment, 2) Our country is what our founders tried to prevent, 3) I’m a Louisiana resident, my parents lost their home during the hurricane and I was in the Superdome as a soldier, they’ve all been through enough – the personnel that belittled our citizens are sick.

ParticipantI think this would help define the nature of government harassment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDwuMBOPrrQ
Everyone should watch that short video if they haven’t already. Seems like they try to discredit you initially. I think this lady did what she should have and got it to the media. Depends on how deep you’re in it. Remember the DC Madam? She went to the media, and about 10 days later they found her hung from a tree in the Florida woods…reported suicide (Women don’t typically commit suicide by hanging and they certainly don’t do it from a tree, and why would she kill herself after she was trying to save herself by going to the media?).
Louisiana devil worshipers — I know of a guy that had a vacant property near Greensburg, not that far from Amite. He eventually had to get the fire department to burn the house down because he could not stop the devil worshipers from breaking in and holding their rituals. Not devil worshipers explicitly but every year on Bull Run Road in Livingston Parish a Wican Festival is held at a place called the griffin’s nest for wicans, pagans, heathens, and other sorts. Once I was at a fair and handed a teenage boy a gospel tract. He said he was a satanists and that he didn’t believe in God. I corrected him and told him that it’s Luciferians that don’t believe in God. Kids these days…(insert Brooklyn accent) Read a book, huh? They’re out there though.
