ParticipantAbout 7 years ago, I was building a cabin on some property I own between Monroe and Sultan WA. My nearest neighbor at the time was about 1/2 mile away and would run on the logging road between us. He is a State Trooper who was always friendly, but reflected the seriousness of his position. He often ran in the early morning, somewhere between 5 or 6 am. Id see him and wave while I made my breakfast on the open fire next to the tent I stayed in while building.
My tent was located next to the creek and was near a “deer trail” that cut through some brambles down to the lake about 200ft away.
I liked to sit out by the fire late into the evening, watch the bats, owls, raccoon. Id often take my canoe out onto the lake under the moonlight and watch the beaver build their nests.
There was a bear that lived in some fallen trees not far from where I was building, it wasnt rare that I would see that bear, he or she kept her distance, but stopped running from me and would walk by sometimes in the early evening looking at me as it walked by….. I always kept my distance and never moved quickly.
I knew the sounds of these animals, Id like to claim I was familiar with their habits and sounds. There was a morning, about 330 am, I did check my phone as I found the situation odd…… I heard footsteps from the deer trail, it wasnt a deer, it wasnt the bear…. it seemed to be two footed, I thought it was an odd direction for that trooper friend to come from, he never came from there before, it made no sense as he would have to come from the lake.
The steps came closer to my tent, right next to my head, I could hear breathing, heavy, large, but not the bear….. I thought this very weird, I did not make a sound, but was thinking this trooper is being a jerk. Something poked my tent about 3/4 up. Now why would he do that? I wondered. I fought the urge to break out of the tent, something wasnt right, I decided to stay quiet and wait to see what would happen next. I did not own a gun at the time, and my machete was by the fire. There was a grunt, almost a scoff, the steps went back through the bramble down towards the lake.
A couple hours later, I was starting up my fire, the trooper ran by, waved as usual….. no indication that it was him earlier. I waved back deciding I wouldnt say anything.
I kept this to myself for a couple years…. then I came across some bigfoot story on yahoo…… it was similar to what happened to me………
I have no idea if it was big foot or not…. after several years though… its the only thing that makes sense…..
I have been in those woods when its loud with birdsong and I have been there when its very quiet and still.
I have felt I was being watched, but I shrugged this off as just being alone in the woods.
Since, I have let the cabin go, but still access the area….I havnt had any other odd things to consider. -
