I agree that we can’t really know what happened just from what information we think we have about it.
The name of the location in the local language “Do not go there” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the territory of Russian Almasty. I heard a story about locations shaped like a bowl that fill up with denser gases (basically replacing the oxygen) and people go there and accidentally suffocate. That’s obviously not the case here, but I can picture a geographical anomaly like that gaining the name “Do not go there”.
I’m sure your information on hypothermia is good too, but on the other hand aren’t Russians supposed to know all the tricks for surviving in freezing weather? (Not that it makes them impervious, and maybe it’s only a general stereotype anyway.)
And I don’t know how they would get fractured skulls, broken ribs and a missing tongue(if that information is accurate) when some of them only had their underwear and the snow on the ground.
Plus, I think bigfoot are known for trying to scare or lure people and dogs away from supposed “safety”.
Then again, that article is the only thing I’ve looked at, so I don’t know…
