I agree that it resembles a wolf. It also seems to behave in a dog or wolf-like manner. I see nothing that deviates from the form of a large, black wolf but maybe if it were more clear. As to stopping the filming upon the attack, I think that most folks who fear for their dog would do the same at that point. That strikes me as authentic.March 8, 2018 at 2:02 pm #122348Perry M

ParticipantI appreciate your comments, Knobby. No doubt the manners here tend to be far more polite than on other sites but, as I said, I was put off by the nature of the criticism and would hate to think of anyone withholding a contribution for fear of being treated badly in the comments. I don’t want to belabor it because the point is made and SC is heads above any other site. Thanks, for taking the time to respond.

I see what you mean that it is not the forum. It WAS under the episode comments. I did not see the distinction.
It may not be as common on SC (I agree with that but I did say “occasionally”) but the comments were egregious. I heard a nice woman (Crystal) giving an account and I was put off by the comments (as was she, as she immediately questioned herself after the first comment: “Ok I sound like an idiot thanks Wes”). Of course folks are free to make comments. My post is a simple appeal that folks be considerate and not publicly criticize someone for how they speak. Debating facts is another matter.
Under the show last night:

Christine RShe might have had a good story, but I couldn’t take her voice! So annoying! I had to stop listening on this one.

Robert EMy thoughts exactly. I typically like to listen to SC driving into work, but I couldn’t get past the 15 minute mark due to her annoying inflections. It’s very rare I have to cut a show short, but this one, I just couldn’t get past her interview answers. It sounded like she was making up stuff on the fly whenever Wes would ask a question.

A year and half ago I was grouse hunting with my young German Shorthair in a State Forest just outside of the Catskills. It was December and there was about a foot of snow. As I started to ascend the ridge I suddenly heard a large THWACK which was distinctive and sounded like a tree knock. I half-dismissed it, and started to drift up toward the sound. As I got to within a hundred or so yards of where I guessed the sound originated I got a bit nervous about what I was doing and drifted away from the sound area but still up towards the ridge. My dog came to me and clamped his tail in fear and would not leave my side as we walked. He kept looking back towards where the sound originated and back to me. So, had I not heard the sound, I would have said “bear,” or “coyote.” If he had not acted fearful, I would have ascribed the THWACK to a tree falling or something. But together? Dogs don’t lie. In any event, I have returned there several times to bird hunt with no repeats. There was a report of two kids seeing a red sasquatch peering into their cabin 20 years ago and another of a farmer witnessing the same (Stealing chickens, I think.) I know the area of which you speak and my experience was about 30 miles north, as the crow flies. For whatever it is worth. Be safe.

ParticipantYou bet, Kim. Flaws with everything. Wes’ show is the best but I like this, too. More encounter stories. 🙂 But that poor old woman. The terror.

ParticipantStrange. The gesturing is human gesturing not animalistic.
