It’s the easiest thing in the world these days to assume everyone’s out to get everyone else.
I’d like to get to a place somewhere in the future where it’s easier to communicate ideas. Finding solutions is probably asking too much right now, but ideas are like bulletproof butterflies, & even now, a better world is still possible. Instead of pushing for a progressive future, they try to grab ahold of the recent past & refuse to acknowledge that the battle has shifted. All they’re concerned with now that they’re in power is not hurting the other side’s feelings instead of counteracting the damage they inflict on ordinary hard-working citizens. Also; drones, immigration, student-debt-cancellation, voting rights & the $15 dollar minimum wage; these are the things they were elected for and yet here they are, wasting time, not doing nothing, piddling it all up the wall & reading aloud poems by Bono. Take your pick… You really don’t need to keep pretending that Hunter’s laptop was a thing when it so clearly was not.
Here’s what I don’t follow specifically, Knobby. What is a twitter or facebook ban against the right to a safe medical abortion?
Furthermore, if freedom of speech is your bag, or the so-called ‘free market of ideas,’ then why so scared of Critical Race Theory? The key word there is ‘theory,’ being a rhetorical analysis, interpreting American history through the lens of race. You can’t advocate for the right to speak & be heard but then clutch pearls when other points of view are brought to the table.
Are your for freedom of speech or ain’t you? Then quit trying to stamp out the rights of others. Do you know how many legal voters were recently denied their Vote thanks to reactionary Republican legislation, actively restricting the most fundamental tenant of democracy? How do you square that circle?
I’ve already said this but it bears repeating because I think otherwise you’re going to come back at me with “no it’s indoctrination!” when it is not, so help Me god, it is just not. It is taught to law students & anyone who tells you differently is taking you for a fool.

I can cite specific policies being actively promoted by Republican lawmakers that prohibit freedom of expression & bodily autonomy in very real, very damaging, very concrete ways. You want Laws in place to shut down opinions and ideas that you disagree with. You seek to stop kids from learning actual American history because some of it happens to be not so good.
You want trans-kids forcibly separated from their parents & investigated for child abuse. You want the State to literally own the wombs of women; our mothers, sisters, and daughters, will thereby seek out the sharp end of a knitting needle in filthy back-alley rooms…

So, about big tech; would you agree that these social media platforms -twitter & facebook or whatever – all of them have far too much power, disproportionately so, since they are so widely used now? Surely then, the logical answer is to take them away from the private owners (Rich & Fat), & turn them into a public utility? Obviously there’d have to be some kind of oversight, so they couldn’t be used for organized crime or whatever, but the cool thing about that would be that since it is a public utility, you’d have totally legit freedom of speech for all sides of the table.
