ParticipantThank you so much for the response Linda! I have gone through some of the BFRO site, ive been using their map and the map found http://www.bigfootmap.com and have been creating my own combination map of the two along with any info i can get on any episodes Wes has about Southern California up to areas like Yosemite, Bear Valley and Big Bear looking for common areas that have activity. Through which i believe i now have a vague idea of where the famous Sierra Sounds occurred and were recorded.
Ive heard about more activity in the Kansas area more and more lately is seems, i dont know if population expansion is just pushing them to look for new territory or whats happening. You should think of maybe setting up some audio recording equipment outside your place and try and catch some audio if you have the chance!
I heard my first vocals up in Bear Valley CA which is just North of Yosemite National Park. My fiance and i were having a late night walk around the Bear Valley lodge town area and heard a loud howl followed by a bunch of intense screaming that sounded like a woman who lost her child or something. The Klamath Oregon Sounds are what we determined sound the most similar but the ones we heard were more feminine in our opinion. Heres the link to that https://youtu.be/elT1FsZAuhU?si=i3vVcRv-z0m4FgNt
We do have plans to go back up to Bear Valley Area for future research. I believe ive heard some whoops in the Laguna Mountain area near the SDSU Observatory but nothing substantial. My next steps will be camping and investigating more campground areas near there and see if i can get some better audio. Santa Ysabel and Lake Henshaw are also on my list for future research.
I appreciate your concern for my safety! Being an Eagle Scout i never go into the wilderness alone or unprepared so you have my word on staying safe and vigilante at all times. Anyone i bring along i do a mini briefing for them before we go anywhere so they know what they might be walking into.
