OK. I am no expert so this is just my opinion.

At the time of the year this story broke bears would be deep into winter hibernation. If by chance one was to wake up it would be very hungry so I think that boy would of been a bear breakfast. If the bear was out late and not entered hibernation yet It still would be looking for food. I do not think a bear would be worried about the welfare of it’s potential food. A bear wont keep him warm when he is cold. A bear will not feed him if he was hungry. I think it was a female Squatch.
I think it may have been a female Squatch that lost its young hit by car etc etc.
He spent time with a creature that had empathy. Something a bear does not have. I have never had a bear bring me berries when I was out hunting bear or feel sorry for me and send his buddy out for me. A little boy at his age most very likely will not know what a Bigfoot is, but will know what a bear is. He probably never seen pictures of a squatch but seen plenty of bears. Winnie the poo, Paddington bear, Goldy locks and the 3 bears. In all those books the bears are always on TWO feet. Unless he saw one at the zoo how would he know any different? He needs to see a picture of a bear on its hind legs and a clear pictures of a squatch and ask him to point to his woodland buddy. This story will be lost to forgotten childhood memories. I’d be willing to bet his parents know if they are smart enough to ask the right questions.
