ParticipantWow Addie… excellent reporting! Makes me excited about it and I don’t even live there!

Participant@G&S You asked the same question before in a post from last September. I guess you didn’t like the suggestion I gave you then since you’re still asking?
Just a side note, but when your username is plural suggesting a nice strong couple (that’s cool, I get it), nobody knows who they’re talking to. Is it George or Shekinah? Lol
Maybe do what Addie does and put your name at the end so we know who we’re talking to.

ParticipantI’m guessing the California Sasquatch population will migrate to Texas. As long as they don’t try to vote, they’re welcome here! Hahaha

ParticipantThanks Bill. Let’s hope it stays uneventful in perpetuity. Yeah it would be great to catch the perpetrators, but I don’t think you’ll have much recourse with these guys.

ParticipantHey M,
Regarding the camo camera: I’ve thought about doing that with some sort of timelapse setting in the daytime, like one frame per second. No light required because it would be sunlit naturally. No motion sensor and no IR light obviously. These creatures are active during the day. They are less likely to hear subtle mechanical sounds from a camera with all the background noise present during the day than during the still of night. I think there’s a certain amount of comfort that all beings feel during the day that keeps their guard down a little, compared to a more heightened state of awareness at night when different senses are prioritized
(hearing over sight).I might try it just for fun, but if capturing a solid tree knock or Sasquatch howl on audio is quite rare (with mics picking up sounds for miles around), then capturing even one frame with a Sasquatch on camera would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Not a good ROI, and it would probably be cheaper with better odds to play the lottery! However, if I knew of a corridor that they travel down frequently, it might be worth doing. Monkey Pond is a better candidate than a lot of other spots in the Sam.
As far as other researchers go, I haven’t run across any out there. I don’t see much of anything mentioning MP specifically published anywhere, so if they’re out there, they aren’t running trying to announce it. Probably a smart move!
Thanks M!!

ParticipantGot some pretty good whoops at 6:21 am recently just Northeast of Monkey Pond. I’ve only heard this vocalization one other time. It was a couple of years ago in the Big Thicket, around this time of year (Spring). Starting to wonder about if they have a mating season like so many other forest creatures do.
Go to 8:16:34 (click timestamp in description and it takes you right there)April 14, 2025 at 6:33 pm #244805Darrel B
ParticipantCan you document this on video? Start rolling video when you get the interference and capture whatever they are.

ParticipantBill – keep me updated. This kind of crap needs to be stopped. Let me know if I can help.

ParticipantI did find this bit of info:
Marion County Horse Mutilation (2019): Authorities investigated the death of a horse near Ocala, where the animal was found with precise cuts and missing flesh. The owner believed the mutilation was not the work of a predator, citing the clean nature of the wounds.

ParticipantLinda Moulton Howe has been investigating cattle mutilations since the 1970’s. I’d start with her.

ParticipantHi Angela,
I don’t think there’s a way to do either of those two things you’re asking about, but I’d love to be wrong about that. I’ve experienced the same thing myself with the app. I just end up listening to some of the same story again until I get to where I left off, and I end up hearing something new half the time so I don’t mind.Maybe email Wes about it. He’s really the only one who can make changes to the app.

ParticipantIt’s @DarrelForestGuy. I record binaural stereo audio overnight in the national forests here in Texas and post the entire 9-10 hour recording with timestamps in the description to all the interesting captures. My latest recording had 32 (possible) wood knocks and several other hits, two pretty good whoops, some grunts, howls, and what sounded like maybe a woman getting murdered! Lol Doubt it was actually a murder!
I should probably post it on the Sam Houston NF Audio thread here.
