If the man, Garrett, promised to deliver services in exchange for money and did not deliver said promised services then he should refund all monies he received. End of story. Period. No counter argument. No it’s a conspiracy, the government is evil, the government needs some money otherwise it’d be a shame if something were to happen to that chuck wagon you got there, the government is Bigfoot representation and needs their 10% taste of the action, Bob’s a good man, Bob didn’t mean to break the law, Bob is a capitalist, Bob is a communist, Bob is an alien come to Earth to make some walking around money.
Just refund the money for crying out loud. Figure out a way to circumvent the situation legally or pony up the coin for permits and move on with your business venture. I’ll be the first in line to plop down the $500. Until, then no thanks.
I agree with Gum. The forum format needs some retooling. Posts get buried quickly and you miss out on some interesting topics. I only found this particular discussion by accident while searching for a post I made in the past.
Say what you will and think what you want. Telling people, however, to lie and say you did not pay money to attend when you did in fact pay does not cast one’s self in a good light however you look at it. If you got what you think you payed for then so be it. I wanted to attend one of the expeditions and still do. Unfortunately, it looks like that may be a long time coming until Garrett gets his permit situation squared away. At the very least Garrett should refund all monies paid in full for the last expedition. I think that is only fair and the right thing to do. Not to mention it would help remove doubt regarding Garret’s sincerity and motives.
