In Alberta, Canada, we do not have to wear white or blaze orange vests when hunting. we can go out completely camo-ed out, looking exactly like the surrounding bush. That is why she could not see me.

I believe she thought I was a deer that bedded down on the blind side of the ridge I was on. Noise from me and then no noise from me for long time. She didn’t perceive me as being “dangerous” but I could be food. There was a pipeline crew working about a half mile east of them and me. I think the males were over there watching the humans while protecting her location. I think she bonked the kid to say “stay” while she went to get the men. That’s why I didn’t see her again. She walked against the edge of the thick bush eastwards but out of view of me.
An interesting note: I went back there a couple of weeks ago. There are big trees pushed across the fence line about every 30 feet. It is quite an obstacle course along that fence line now. Had it been like that last year, I would never have walked the fence line. The trees are about 2-1/2 to 3 feet off the ground. If anything wants to get into that area, it would be tough. But if you were already in there, and being pursued, you would not make it out. This really worries me. When the men came back, they knew it was a man that was in there, by my scent, I am sure.

She did not know there was a man with a gun right in front of her.

Just like I did not know there was a sasquatch in front of me for 5 minutes. She was behind that tree, her camo. Talk about a standoff. lol. Two animals, face to face, neither one giving up information, until someone gives. She gave!!

She did not see me all the time I was there looking at her. I was in TOTAL CAMO, with my favorite Guillie hat. And I did not move a muscle or twitch a toe for 8 minutes. And I blink very slowly because animals can see you blink if they are watching for you.
