Lucy is the common name of AL 288-1, several hundred pieces of bone representing about 40% of the skeleton of a female Australopithecus afarensis. In Ethiopia it is also known as Dinkinesh which means “you are marvelous” in the Amharic language. It was discovered in 1974 at Hadar in the Awash Valley of the Afar Triangle in Ethiopia. In paleoanthropology, usually only fossil fragments are found and only rarely are skulls or ribs uncovered intact; thus this discovery was extraordinary and provided an enormous amount of scientific evidence.
Lucy was 1.1 m (3 ft 7 in) tall, weighed 29 kg (64 lb), and (by reconstruction) looked somewhat like a chimpanzee. Although the creature had a small brain, the pelvis and leg bones were almost identical in function to those of modern humans, showing with certainty that these hominids had walked erect.
Lucy’s cause of death is not known. She does not show the signs of post-mortem bone damage characteristic of animals killed by predators and then scavenged. The only visible damage to Lucy’s bones is a single carnivore tooth puncture mark on the top of her left pubic bone, believed to have occurred at or around the time of death, that may not be related to her death. Her erupted and slightly worn third molars and the development of her bones indicate that she was fully adult with completed skeletal development. There are indications of degenerative disease to her vertebrae, but this is not necessarily an indicator of old age. It is believed that she was a mature, but young, adult when she died.

Judging by the side view, Lucy was the result of several surgical metal bone implants not unlike “Wolverine” of the X-Men. Could it be that aliens abducted Lucy and replaced most of her bone structure with titanium alloy in an attempt to create the first “bionic” Mini-Me-Squatch? Only further investigation into the matter may reveal the truth.

Wow, this Lucy is cheerleader material in LosMolinos, where I grew up. Girls didn’t wear lipstick, as it inter-fered with the pinch of Copenhagen in their lip. Best chat up line in LosMolinos was “hey, nice tooth!”. It’s all true, I swear by bigfoots hairy bottom!

LOL! Kim

Kim, after conferring with “Dirty” Gary Callahan, he told me, and said to pass it along to everyone else…”It’s a prehistoric f*****g bear!.”

Hey Steven B, we’re you on a SC episode before? We’re you the guy that found out the name of one of the two agents that people would refer to one as being nice n clean cut n the other looking more like a rugged biker dickhead? I think the encounter was about a rogue aggressive sasquatch that chased two forestry workers off n one of the workers was native american I believe

Hi Tyler! Although it would be, in one sense, great to be on an SC show, on the other hand it would most likely mean I would’ve been through something terrifying. So, no, I’ve not been a guest on the show here.
If I had a story, it would most likely would have been in a David Paulides “Missing 412” book (411 + 1 (me) ). Before SasChron and Dogman Encounters…I was totally oblivious to what is out there and I have been in the habit of often hunting/fishing alone. Now I don’t think I’ll even travel by vehicle without a good, stout, defensive firearm with me.
As I’ve posted before, should things “go south”, may my last words be, “Get your stinkin’ paws off me you damned dirty apes!”.

I;m pretty sure i saw that these bones were recreated to look more human, when actually the were more monkey like,,,,, arms raised higher, and ribs were recreated to be more human…. I still find it interesting.. Ciao

There are some scientists that believe in the earlier days of our origins we were also thought to have the look, shape n appearance of a chimpanzee in the head region. We we’re also thought to have thicker bones and a more robust stalkier appearance. I am unbelievably fascinated with our origins and our relatives. I think we’re just scratching the surface with our family tree. You can’t know where you’re going unless you know where you’ve been. N I hope soon enough we have a more detailed n more elaborate timeline of our and our relatives very long very impressive history

Hi Steven B!, I forgot to say, I was never able to sneak a kiss from the lovely Lucy, as her brother, Dirty Gary, was adamant that no one kiss his sister but him. What a spoil-sport.
Steven B
LOL!

Hey Steven B great last words couldn’t have said it better myself, but I think Lucy should have been a D cup with a bikini wax.

Source – But upon NEWSCIENTIST – Life: Baboon bone found in famous Lucy Skeleton Upon Lucy, it was discovered that one of her vertebra was of a baboon’s, and they speculate that the baboon vretbra which was noticed to be small and didn’t quite match up, had washed up a deposited in with Lucy’s skeleton. Back 3.2. million years ago there were other animals in the same region as the Lucy clan. Animals such as porcupine and pig as well as baboon. There is a full in depth article upon how the baboon vertebra had been discovered. I find the entire write – up very interesting as it shows how such a mistake came about and that shows that even scientists, many scientist do fuck up. The Author writes in that it went to long unnoticed because the many scientists that studied Lucy’s remains were not vertebral specialists. …………… Pithdownman — Cough, – cough!
