Looking for Sasquatch

Have you seen Sasquatch around Columbia? He has been spotted at several locations around the county, but has yet to be captured. The 7.5 foot, 250 pound Big Foot is out promoting The Adair County Sportsman Club 3D archery tournament called “Sasquatch Trail Archery Challenge.” The tournament will be held on June 21 starting with signups at 6 a.m.

Officer Tyler McKinney and Officer Travis Bell defend themselves against Big Foot.

“As we were talking to people in the community, many memories were of the men shooting and the women and children watching,” said Jesse Howard. “We wanted to make it different and have a family friendly event that involves everyone.”

There will be a “kids zone” where smaller children can shoot 3D targets with safety precautions in place. They will have pinatas for them to shoot with foam-tipped arrows, and other activities throughout the day.
The event is for everyone at any skill level. The categories will be ages 8-12, 13-17, 18 and over and pro division. The entry fee per person is $10 to participate.

“What sets our 3D tournament apart from others that people may have shot is that the course will be 20 targets at marked stations,” said Howard. “Sasquatch will be a bonus target that is hidden somewhere along the pathway.”

For the group that locates Sasquatch, members will have the opportunity to shoot at him for bonus points. There will be food trucks, prizes, raffles and other events going on the entire day. The event will take place at The Adair County Sportsman Club, located at 7200 Fairplay Rd., Columbia.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their families and spend the day. Anyone who would like to donate a prize, volunteer or wants more information can contact Mary Howard at 270-805-8064 or visit their website at www.adairsportsman.org.
