Sounds just like I would imagine one of these creatures to sound. Good recording. He sounds mournful…maybe it’s that skeleton making him lonely. Thanks.

NO! That is TOO farkin’ close to home—if I lived there, they’d call me Annie ’cause I’d SURELY have a gun!!! Maybe a flame thrower too
Gah….how do they sleep, being THAT close to the woods and hearing THAT????????
PUTS A WHOLE NEW MEANING IN ‘CRAZY-BRAVE’!

Ah yes, my old Kentucky home! This isn’t to far from the Daniel Boone Forest. It is of little wonder that the old folks used to keep their children so close to home. Imagine going home after darkness falls over the hills and hollers’. You’re walking along a dirt and gravel road, trusting your feet to keep you from stumbling; your eyes and ears of marginal use. Then, you hear that cry, coming from a ridge top above you. Now your heart beat is interfering with your hearing-until it cries again! Then, your adrenalin kicks into super-spray mode, bringing you back to the clearer than crystal realization that you are definitely not alone! Man, I miss Kentucky!!

Most may disagree with me, but this could be a baying hound or (and this would be as cool as if it were a squatch IMO) a red wolf. I’m not saying it isn’t a squatch, just that there are other things it could be. I like to keep an open mind until there is enough evidence to say definitively that it is or isn’t.
And yes, there are red wolves in KY.

This is the exact sound I heard one summer evening in a remote area of Bedford County PA in 1983 coming from a mountain where it was nothing but state game lands and no homes for miles. It was so loud I could feel it throughout my entire body. No way a dog could have made that sound. No wolves in PA, either. But I will add there are black panthers. A local school was closed down because the teachers and students all saw it in the play yard, then a cop saw it and tried to shoot it but missed. This happened around, I want to say…1987.

That environment, and that sound, are a perfect match. Let me know when you’re ready to sell…

I guess a dog or wolf is certainly possible, maybe even the most likely explanation, but this sounds different at least to my ears — like something bigger making the howls.
