Steven B. posted this to the group and I wanted to thank him for sharing it. It is important to know what you are hearing in the woods and sometimes it is easy to get fooled.
The YouTuber writes “Audio of a pair of barred owls “laughing” calls to each other with a couple of still pictures. Recorded near Suwannee River State Park, FL.”

Yeah, I’ve heard barred owls making those calls in the woods here in SW Ohio. Exactly the sort of sounds to make old-time people think there were haunts in the woods. 🙂

I’m an editor, and animal-lover–but certainly no biologist or ornithologist. So, there’s a bard owl, a barn owl, and a barred owl? This is why people hate the English-speaking world….
Nathan E
A barn owl lives in a barn. A bard owl sounds nice. A barred owl has block stripes, or bars.

GOOD ONE. ALEX .F.

Thank-you for the post…..I didn’t realize a barred owl could sound like that.
