It started swaying and grunted at us

A listener writes “I’ll explain my encounter more. My dad, wife, uncle, cousin, and I were going fishing at Cumberland cove, in Little City, Oklahoma.

You have to wind through woods and over several cattle guards to get there. This happened in the summer of 1999. My wife and dad were in the cab of the truck and us other 3 were in the bed of the truck with my dad’s little 2 man boat. My dad and wife set the boat in the water and the rest of us went down the bank to fish. This is a part of Lake texhoma. We were fishing at the bottom of a 20 foot levee.

I walked up the levee to fish the washita river on the other side. On top of the levee they planted sapling oak trees, about six foot tall, I’m 5’8 and they were just above my head. The whole time I fished the river I had a spooky feeling something was watching me, I grew up in these woods so I’m never nervous.

After 30 minutes I was so spooked I walked back down the levee and started fishing with my uncle and cousin. We kept our stringer of fish about 15 yards away from us because watermoccasins have been drawn to our catch in this area. My uncle was catching several catfish and every time he would walk the bank to put his fish on the stringer he said he would get hit with rocks. I didn’t believe him until a good sized rock landed in the water right by us.

My uncle and cousin ran to the truck, about 35 yards from where we where fishing. We yelled for my dad and wife, and they finally came in, and of course they didn’t believe us. So we went back down and started fishing again.

Just at dusk I was putting a fish on the stringer I was pelted with several rocks, I thought for sure my dad was trying to trick me. As I turned to say something I noticed everyone staring up the levee. As I looked up I saw something squatted by one of the sapling tree’s. My uncle yelled at it and this thing stood up and towered over that six foot tree, I’d guess it was 7 and a half 8 foot tall. It started swaying and grunted at us, I felt like my life was in jeopardy. We all ran, left everything, terrified.”

“hey, those humans have a nice pile of fish… wonder if I can chase them off? I know, I’ll toss rocks at ’em…
    …damn that didn’t work, guess I’ll have to take it up a notch… “
