It Locked Eyes With Me

A listener writes “It was mid July of 2016. I was up at our family compound in Minnesota. I’m an avid reggae fan and was attending the annual reggae festival up there, in Duluth, that weekend. My drive to the festival from the cabin is approximately 40 miles one way. We are pretty deep in the National Forest.

The sighting happened on my way back that evening. I’d say it was about midnight or shortly after when I headed back to the cabin. Coming out of Duluth, on Jean Duluth Road, things start to get darker and less populated, thicker with trees etc. I turn right at county road 44. At this point you’re in the forest. There’s a mixture of marshy areas and pines. Everything is thick and keeps getting thicker. Completely dark. I’m the only one on the road. No light anywhere.

So I’m driving…I’d say about 10-15 minutes down CR 44, in a more marshy area, when I see this creature on the right side of the road. I’m not sure what Im looking at. My brights are on. I’m slowing down. I was going about 30 mph. Or at the pace you would go if you saw wildlife while driving and had to quickly slow down. It was crouched in the position of a sprinter starting a race. Knees bent…hands to the ground….looking up. It was stopped and literally locked eyes with me…my car or my headlights. But it definitely was smart enough to stop and wait and watch me pass. I’m seeing what I can only describe as something I have never in my entire life seen before. It was small, about the size of an average 10-12 year old, light grey to smokey black in color, ears flat to head, its face was almost flat and skin like but still furry a bit and there was hair everywhere else. I can’t recall the color of eyes but they weren’t glowing red or yellow like some callers say. I feel like they were grey. We were consciously aware of each other. The feeling I had was I think I just saw a youth sasquatch. The connective feeling was like when you see a fellow primate at the zoo. There was a common ground feeling….if that makes sense. Still, I was scared. Shaking. Too freaked to actually stop. So I passed this being…us both watching each other…and I continued on just wanting to get back to the cabin to tell everyone what I saw. As I drove away there were headlights of a car behind me in the far distance. I looked in my rear view mirror to see if I could see it cross. I did not.”
