It emerged from the tree line

A listener writes “Hi Wes, I’ve been a listener of your show for several years and really appreciate what you do. The reason I originally found your podcast was because of some experiences I had, and I’d much rather speak with you directly than try to write out a detailed account that spans more than a decade. If you’re interested and have the time, I’d be grateful for the chance to talk.

For over ten years, I lived in Alabama near the Cahaba River. During that time, I experienced a series of unusual events that, in hindsight, resemble many of the encounters your guests describe.

It began with physical signs on the property large tree limbs embedded deep into hard ground, oversized footprints near my freshwater well where toe impressions were clearly visible, and strange vocalizations at night. These incidents seemed seasonal, occurring from mid-fall through early spring each year.

One night, I recorded a sound that I can only describe as something like a woman screaming in an unfamiliar language. I took the recording to the Ruffner Mountain Nature Reserve, and a ranger suggested it was porcupines, so I let it go at the time. On another occasion, a family of coyotes denned in my backyard at the top of the ridge. They showed no fear of me, even when I was mowing, and they refused to retreat down into the ravine behind my house as if they were avoiding something below. I would also occasionally smell a strong, musty odor outside my bedroom window at night. I assumed it was opossums, though the window was twelve feet off the ground with nothing nearby to climb.

About seven or eight years in, I had a sighting that changed my perspective. One winter night during a full moon, I was watching the yard when I saw a deer running at incredible speed across the field. Close behind it was something with light gray or whitish hair, moving low to the ground as it emerged from the tree line.

Once in the open, it appeared to rise and pursue the deer upright, stride for stride. It was roughly man sized, slender but muscular. I caught a brief side view of its face square teeth visible, an intense expression, almost like an athlete exerting maximum effort. Within seconds, both were back in the woods. The speed and fluidity of the movement were unlike anything I’ve seen.”

This convinces me further that these things also migrate. I’m not sure how far you live from hunting grounds and wonder if the migration has something to do with gun hunting season. I live near the Walker Co and Jeff Co line in AL.

Sure sounds like Bigfoot behavior and of course a hunting visual. That one as you described would probably be a youth Bigfoot. Are you OK with this. Some foks are a lot are not. There might be a family or clan around you seasonally that moves up and down the Cahaba River watershed. Your visual reminds me of a story in Alabaa years ago. This was NW of Birmingham on a lake so I assume it was the Lewis Smith Lake. This guys Father had bought or was building a home on a cove of the lake, and his son was doing work on the porch facing the lake. All hell breaks out with noise on the other side of the cove. He watches as a deer is running along the shoreline, with a Bigfoot close behind. Then out of nowhere up on the woods of the banks, another Bigfoot ambushes the deer running down to it and taking it into the lake with a blow to it that kills the deer. Then it just carries out it.
