A listener writes “Our family started the Thousand Trails campgrounds about 50 years ago. While we were developing the campgrounds I used to live in the woods near Chehalis and Leavenworth between 1972 -1975.
In Chehalis, about 20 miles south east of town, our first campground 1972 -1973 I lived alone in the woods in a small trailer. I used to hear tree knocking and bided all walking around the trailer in the late evening. Very eerie. All the normal evening noises from bugs, frogs etc would go quiet. I never had a clue what it might be at the time and never saw anything.
In Leavenworth at our second campground about 15 miles west of the town one evening I was driving Late at night in my pickup on a county road from heading West toward lake Wenatchee.
About 10 feet in front of me crossed something back, on two legs and about 7 and half feet tall. It never look at me but ran across the road so close I was surprised I didn’t hit it.
It looked similar to the Patterson creature. A few years later I visited a friend near our Chehalis campground who lived his whole life there. I asked him if he ever saw anything he couldn’t explain. Amazingly he told me once he saw one sitting in the ditch one evening driving home from Chehalis. He was never the type of person to tell stories for attention. In fact he was always soft spoken and always honest.”
